We are seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join our Instrumentation NPI and Sustaining Engineering team, supporting the design, transition to manufacturing, and lifecycle management of our current and next-generation platforms. As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you will lead and contribute to the development, improvement, and support of electrical systems across our product lines. Your primary focus will be on New Product Introduction (NPI)-bridging the gap between R&D and manufacturing-and on sustaining engineering to ensure high product quality, manufacturability, and reliability throughout the product lifecycle. You will work in close collaboration with cross-functional teams to deliver robust, scalable, and compliant instrument solutions. What you will be doing:
- Lead and execute electrical design and development efforts for NPI and sustaining engineering projects across complex instrumentation platforms.
- Drive thetransition of products from development to manufacturing, ensuring design robustness, manufacturability (DFM), testability (DFT), and scalability.
- Leadroot cause analysis, corrective actions, and continuous improvements for electrical issues arising in production or in-field systems.
- Own and developsystem and subsystem electrical architectures to meet performance, cost, and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate withmechanical, firmware, software, system, microfluidics, and quality teams to solve complex, cross-disciplinary engineering challenges.
- Conduct board-level analog/digital circuit design, schematic capture, and PCB layout reviews using CAD tools (Altium preferred).
- Apply strong knowledge ofsignal integrity, grounding, power management, and EMI/ESD mitigation.
- Lead and supportdesign verification and validation, compliance testing (FCC, CE, UL, CSA), and reliability testing.
- Interact with external partners and contract manufacturers to align on electrical design, test strategies, and manufacturing processes.
- Participate in and drive design reviews, risk assessments (FMEA), and design documentation per design control processes.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
- 8+ years of hands-on experience in electrical engineering, including board-level design for complex electro-mechanical systems.
- Proven track record of supporting both new product development and sustaining engineering in a regulated environment (medical, biotech, or life sciences preferred).
- Proficiency with embedded systems, including microprocessors, memory interfaces, USB, Ethernet, I2C, SPI, CAN, etc.
- Strong experience with PCB bring-up, debugging, and rework, including use of lab equipment (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, power analyzers, etc.).
- Experience conducting DFM, DFA, and DFT reviews and working with contract manufacturers and suppliers.
- Familiarity with regulatory standards and certifications: FCC, UL, CE, ISO, and safety/reliability requirements.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in NPI environments, including pilot builds, production ramp, and ECO processes.
- Strong understanding ofembedded firmware/hardware interaction; coding experience is a plus.
- Experience with a wide range of sensors (optical, thermal, pressure, flow, position).
- Deep understanding of compliance engineering, including EMC, ESD, safety, and environmental testing.
- Proficiency in Altium Designer or equivalent ECAD tools.
- Experience supporting cross-functional design transfer processes to operations and manufacturing teams.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to clearly convey technical information to diverse audiences.
