Your Role on the Team

Under guidance from the Senior Superintendent of Project Services, serves as estimator to provide detailed cost estimates and budget projects for Facilities Management renovation projects. Meets with campus Customers to develop scopes of work, conducts field surveys of building space and infrastructure systems of proposed project renovation sites; reviews as-built drawing files verifying conditions that could impact renovation costs; verifies the scope of the proposed renovation work to assure proposed project construction components comply with the UCI Campus Standards; prepares project estimates using various electronic estimating formats and coordinates with Crafts to finalize scopes and estimates as necessary. Also provides various estimating associated data for input into the project tracking system and reviews and analyzes Schedule of Values cost breakdown information. Assure accuracy of estimates based on various methods such as past history and industry standards. Fosters positive team dynamics and customer service.


What It Takes to be Successful

Required:

  • Knowledge of building and construction, design, construction contract administration and California Building Codes.
  • Skills to develop project scope and drawings.
  • Computer skills in word processing, spreadsheet, and project management software and MS Office skills.
  • Good written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, including effective negotiation skills and conflict resolution skills.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of estimating in a renovation and maintenance environment with day to day construction tasks knowledge.
  • Ability to work with campus Customers to develop appropriate scopes of work, prepare sketches, identify sources of infrastructure connection/modification and identify means and methods for implementation of the scope of work
  • Knowledge of industry standards and utility system characteristics when inspecting and surveying building infrastructure for the basis of project design development.
  • Knowledge of major building systems, infrastructure, building trades and associated language.
  • Experience working in a union environment.
  • Knowledge of University Policies and Procedures applicable to the UC Irvine Campus.
  • Knowledge of principles used in preparing person-hour and material estimates for various types of projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, schedule, supervise and direct the work of building trades, including organizing work and work flow.
  • Associates or Bachelor's degree in construction management or related area preferred and / or equivalent experience / training

Special Conditions:

  • Must have a valid CA drivers license and participate in the DMV Pull-notice program
  • Must be able to work outside of regular hours including on-call
  • Must comply with Covid-19 UC policies
  • Must be able to wear PPE

The expected pay range for this recruitment is $34.29 - $46.21 (hourly).
