We are looking for an individual with a unique combination of skills; someone who is passionate about identifying the future of what energy customers truly need and want, possesses the creativity to turn those customer needs into a new product or service idea, and who is analytical, organized, structured, detail-oriented, curious, flexible, and proactive. While the team does follow an organized, defined process for bringing ideas from "idea" through to "launch" and then "ongoing management" this person will need to mesh that process with the unconventional products this team is tasked with building. This person will drive the ideas into reality, provide analytical insight to justify the product's business case, champion the ideas to leaders and decision-makers within the business, and be fiercely driven to see those ideas through. NRG is seeking a rock star Product Innovation Analyst who can easily fit into a fast-paced, dynamic, creative team driven to accelerate (and invent) the future of retail electricity. The Product Development team is at the core of this company's growth and provides a great environment to develop cross-functional skillset unparalleled in other functional groups. This position will be reporting to a Senior Manager in Product Innovation.

Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate new technology needs and evolving business requirements to recommend appropriate solutions/products to current NRG portfolio by analyzing the technology ecosystem, customer needs and industry trends.
  • Develop a deep understanding of the market landscape, uncover and size areas of opportunity, drive products from idea to concept before they're handed off to be executed, and continue to own and monitor them post-launch.
  • Manage multiple simultaneous ideas and prioritize the activities based on established guiding principles, including business case and customer value proposition.
  • Provide in depth analysis with interpretive thinking to define problems, develop innovative solutions, and influence strategic product decisions.
  • Identify and communicate risk and impacts of proposed solutions along with risk mitigation options considering business implications of the application of the product concept.
  • Conduct research and generate insights, use-cases, and industry analyses to address potential future opportunities.
  • Provide support on requested tasks, organize tasks, communicate and proactively report performance and develop next steps.

Experience:

  • Work experience preferred but not required
  • 1-2 years in Product management and/or marketing experience, preferably in the consumer-facing products, financial, or services industries a plus
  • Experience in the solar, energy, sustainability services, or a high-tech company a plus.
  • Experience of working in startups or with an incubator/accelerator a plus.
  • Strong analytical and visual presentation skills

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree required, preferably in Business, Finance, or Economics

  • Have self-confidence and assertiveness to provide clear directions and next steps for team
  • Ability to hold people accountable
  • Ability to think creatively, discover new perspectives on or ways to present products, and problem-solve
  • Ability to understand process, document and continue to improve current process
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills - ability to communicate ideas in email, Powerpoint, and Excel

Working Conditions:

  • Open office environment with frequent collaboration within and across team.
  • Hybrid work environment with 3 days per week in office and 2 days remote; 9am-5pm.
  • Limited travel may be required
