Job Description

The successful candidate will provide direct clinical services in the area of pediatric psychology, join a thriving multidisciplinary team, and work closely with physicians, child life specialists, social services representatives, and other disciplines. Clinical focus areas in this position are within the Pediatric Hepatology and Gastroenterology services including but not limited to the following:

  • Standard of Care for Gastroenterology includes routine screening for anxiety/depression, adherence support, and enhancing coping with disease burden for newly diagnosed IBD patients as part of the ImproveCareNow model.
  • Standard of Care for Disorders of Gut-Brain Interaction (DGBIs) includes behavioral health treatment for conditions such as functional abdominal pain, IBS, functional nausea, and rumination syndrome. This includes Implementation of Rome IV Criteria for Functional Abdominal Pain and Related DGBIs which increases diagnostic clarity and standardization.
  • Provision of care around post-transplant and liver disease follow-up including ongoing multidisciplinary clinic visits supporting medication adherence, adjustment, transition to self-management, and family functioning in the liver transplant population.
  • Inpatient consultation services around adjustment to chronic illness, chronic pain, medical trauma, and adherence difficulties.

General Description: The licensed psychologist (or license-eligible psychologist) in the State of Oklahoma will provide care as part of our growing healthcare system and will be an essential part of the interdisciplinary team at OU Health by providing assessment, treatment, and consultation for individuals with behavioral health needs that may be associated with their health conditions.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Provide high-quality behavioral health services to patients with a variety of psychological andmedical conditions within the OU Health system

  • Provide consultation to other healthcare professionals regarding the psychological aspects of a patient's mental health condition, medical condition, or hospitalization.

  • Attend and collaborate with other healthcare professionals in team rounds, didactics, and meetings

  • Provide supervision to psychology practicum students, interns, and post-doctoral residents

  • May participate in a variety of academic opportunities, including clinical research and education of trainees in psychology and other medical disciplines

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: PhD or PsyD in Clinical Counseling or School Psychology from an APA-accredited doctoral program.

Experience:

  • Completion of a predoctoral, APA-accredited internship required.

  • Specialized training in psychology, including a postdoctoral residency/fellowship required.

  • 0 - 3 years' experience, including postdoctoral training, required.

  • Ranked as an Assistant Professor in Academic Setting.

License/Certification/Registration: Licensed as a psychologist in the State of Oklahoma required.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Be eligible for faculty appointment at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center.

  • Have knowledge of evidence-based psychological assessment, intervention, and consultation.

  • Have an interest in training/supervision of trainees in psychology and other disciplines.

  • Have experience in research, program development, and/or quality improvement.
