The Department of Graduate Programs in the John Chambers College of Business and Economics at West Virginia University is currently accepting applications for a (Hybrid) Graduate Programs Recruiter.

About the Opportunity

The West Virginia University John Chambers College of Business and Economics is seeking a graduate programs recruiter. This position is responsible for supporting the strategic graduate programs recruitment initiatives and reports. The incumbent will be responsible for the formation, implementation and assessment of recruitment strategies to attract graduate students for the on-campus and online graduate programs for the College. Additionally, the incumbent will be responsible for conducting institutional research, analyzing data and identifying best practices utilized by peer AACSB business schools. Emphases are placed on finding new sources of students and attracting students with competitive academic profiles and increasing the conversion of graduate students in the admit pool.

What You'll Do

Recruiting



  • Assist with the development of a strategic plan for recruiting graduate students into graduate programs.
  • Utilize innovative recruitment techniques and marketing methods to develop, plan, organize and execute a nationwide recruitment plan.
  • Support the design and creation of (in collaboration with the College's strategic communications unit) electronic and printed recruitment materials. These include inserts, post cards, electronic newsletters, web pages, communication plans, etc.
  • Travel extensively within the state and around the country to meet with prospective students interested in pursuing a graduate degree in business.
  • Assist students with the University application process and make referrals to academic and student support units (e.g. Office of Financial Aid, Housing and Residence Life, Undergraduate Scholars Office, Office of Disability Services, etc.).
  • Employ effective and professional communications/marketing skills, generate and respond to inquiries, provide consistent and professional recruiting information and communicate proactively with partner universities, schools and recruitment organizations in a timely manner.
  • Facilitate the pre-admission and conversion process through various sales methods to include, but not limited to automated and personalized communication, undergraduate institutions, pre-screened cold calling, presentations, etc.
  • Utilize CRM System to effectively track and manage communications with prospective students; modify communication workflows as needed.
  • Plan and execute digital, print, video, conference/event, social media, website and story-based marketing activities as part of a multi-channel, integrated marketing plan.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Research, Outreach and Assessment



  • Research and map organizations that have large percentages of students who might be interested in pursuing a graduate business degree.
  • Work closely with the leadership of the college to draft articulation agreements between the College and universities in state, the country and internationally.
  • Monitor and assess social media types to determine which ones are most effective in recruiting graduate students.
  • Perform analyses to determine commonalities among students who matriculate and identify what academic and socioeconomic profiles influence their decision to matriculate to the College.
  • Acquire feedback, where possible, on admitted students who do not matriculate to the University and/or College and provide results to the Executive Director of Enrollment Management on what measures if any can be taken to improve yield rates among them.
  • Serve on University and College committees, task forces, and work groups as recommended by the Associate Dean.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • A minimum of one (1) year of experience in corporate and/or personal sales OR college admissions/recruiting OR marketing/social media.
  • Any equivalent combination of related education and/or experience will be considered.
  • All qualifications must be met by the time of employment.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities



  • Ability to relate to the concerns of prospective students and the ability to counsel them on these concerns.
  • Extensive knowledge of customer service principles.
  • Event management and planning skills.
  • Demonstrated excellent oral and written communication skills are required in order to advise and counsel students regarding WVU admission requirements and to communicate attributes of programs and services offered.
  • Demonstrated experience and comprehensive knowledge of publication production, proper grammar, standard editing/proofreading procedure, and journalistic principles.
  • Ability to facilitate equal access to a WVU education to all interested students.
  • Must be able to constructively and collegially interact with multiple members of the WVU community, including faculty and staff.
  • Must be able to travel (often overnight) and to work extended hours and weekends on short notice as needed.
  • Must have demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to develop constructive relationships with prospective students.
  • Must always exhibit professional behavior and image to best represent WVU to our constituents.
  • Must exhibit a positive attitude and the demonstrated ability to work well with others and be a positive contributor, as well as leader, in a team-based environment.
  • Ability to rapidly learn WVU admission requirements and financial aid requirements and regulations.
  • Ability to operate motor vehicle.
  • Physical capability to transport materials weighing an average of 25-40 pounds.
  • Proficient understanding of web-based technology, including specific knowledge of Banner and Salesforce.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office Suite.
