The Department of Physiology, Pharmacology & Toxicology at West Virginia University is currently accepting applications for a (Temporary) Post Doctoral Fellow.

About the Opportunity

The Hileman Laboratory within the Department of Physiology, Pharmacology and Toxicology in the West Virginia University School of Medicine is seeking applications for a Temporary Postdoctoral Fellow. Current research in the Dr. Hileman Lab is focused on revealing the neural mechanisms underlying puberty in female sheep and the particular role of KNDy and the melanocortin system in this process.

What You'll Do



  • This position is responsible for working on a project that examines the expression of receptors for kisspeptin, neurokinin B, and agouti-related peptide in conjunction with pubertal development.
  • Examination of the role of receptors for neurokin B in the preoptic area and receptors for kisspeptin in the arcuate nucleus with developmental changes in LH secretion is also a possible project.
  • Perform lab work to include immunocytochemistry, RNA scope, tissue cutting and preparation for assays, data collection and analysis.
  • Preparation of data for publication, manuscript preparation, and presentation of data at seminars/meetings (both internal and external to WVU).


Length of Assignment: Approximately 6 months

Work Hours: 37.5 Hours per week

Qualifications

  • PhD in physiology or a relevant biomedical field is required.
  • A minimum of one (1) year of hands-on experience in the following:

    • Large animal models in a research setting. This experience is typically acquired through the course of doctoral training.


  • All qualifications must be me by the time of employment.
