The VCU Health Radiology is seeking a PACS Administrator to join our Imaging Informatics team. This candidate will provide systemic support of the PACS (Picture Archiving and Communications System) image management system within Radiology and maintain and support PACS workstations and servers - hardware, OS, networking, and applications. A strong candidate would have a thorough understanding of system architectures, both software and hardware components, working knowledge of operating system structures, file systems, device definitions, daemons and kernel processes with the ability to utilize and manage system logging and error reports, and a strong grasp of the interaction of system and application programs with knowledge of relational databases, Unix, and Linux preferred. Some knowledge of system performance and tuning techniques.
This is a primarily remote position with a requirement of at least one (1) day of on site support a week. On call is required with a rotation of one week of 24/7 coverage once every 3-4 weeks. The Systems Administrator II job performs all system administration functions including asset management, performance tuning of systems, using various system toolset, and collaborating with vendors in the configuration of applications and hardware Essential Job Statements Performs: software product installations, setup and configuring of new enterprise systems, systems maintenance, system backups, recovery, and file maintenance to ensure uptime and efficient performance Maintains assigned systems by keeping functionality and configurations current to support the scope of business processes and ensure the integrity of the operating system environment Enhance the capabilities and value of assigned systems by building new functionality and developing routine and ad hoc reports. Install and test system software upgrades and computer components. Collaborate with hardware and software vendors during product installations, including setup of interfaces, servers and related hardware. Troubleshoots performance issues and problems to resolution using standard application, database and operating system software tools. Develops automated processes utilizing the appropriate platform tools. Collaborates with the vendor to periodically upgrade the system version. Maintaining supportability, correct systems errors and incorporate additional features. Performs application and hardware installation and configurations. Quickly learn and apply scheduling rules as currently set. Create new schedule each 6-months with goal of setting a yearly schedule. Ability to reason through additions/deletions and modifications to schedule to improve efficiency and productivity. Ability to make daily modifications to schedule without loss of coverage to any locations. Work closely with department leaders to provide reports and process updates. Patient Population: N/A Employment Qualifications Required Education:Associate's degree in information technology, Computer Science, or a related field; or a combination of experience and education Preferred Education:Bachelor's degree in information technology, Computer Science, or a related field. Licensing/ Certification Licensure/Certification Required:N/A Licensure/Certification Preferred:CIIP or PARCA for some areas of work Minimum Qualifications Years and Type of Required Experience: Three years of IT experience Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:Basic proficiency in MS Office suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Publisher, Visio, and Project), clinical systems and/or business systems and service desk software. Cultural Responsiveness: N/A Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred:3 years of experience working in a healthcare setting Combination of education and experience in lieu of a degree. Working Conditions: Periods of high stress and fluctuating workloads may occur.General office environment. Required to car travel to off-site locations, occasionally in adverse weather conditions. Long-distance or air travel as needed- not to exceed 10% travel. Prolonged periods of working alone.
