Symetra has an exciting opportunity to join our team as Manager of Supplemental Health Benefits Operations!

About the role

We're looking for a dynamic leader to oversee our Supplemental Health claims team. In this role, you'll manage daily operations, drive customer service excellence, and ensure regulatory compliance across our Critical Illness, Scheduled Benefit Accident, and Hospital Indemnity products.

What you will do



  • Lead and manage daily operations for customer service, claims processing, and reporting.
  • Optimize workflows to improve efficiency and service quality.
  • Handle escalated customer concerns and ensure timely resolution.
  • Manage and develop team members, including hiring, performance reviews, and goal setting.
  • Serve as the primary backup to the AVP, Group Claims and assist with budget planning.
  • Lead and contribute to high-impact projects and cross-functional initiatives within the Benefits Division.

Compensation

Salary Range: $70,600 - $117,600 plus eligibility for annual bonus program

Who You Are



  • High School Diploma required. Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience managing claims teams required.
  • Strong understanding of Supplemental Health products and related regulations.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology, coding, and billing.
  • Proven leadership skills with a focus on accountability, innovation, and team development.
  • Excellent communication, decision-making, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Comfortable working cross-functionally and independently on complex projects.
  • Critical thinker and creative problem solver.

Travel:

Required Training & Professional Development
All newly hired people leaders with direct reports are required to complete a comprehensive leadership development program within their first year. This program includes both virtual and in-person training. The in-person sessions will take place at Symetra's corporate headquarters in Bellevue, Washington. Symetra covers all travel and accommodation expenses.
