Brief Summary of Work for this Position |
The English Language Center (
ELC) provides intensive English instruction, cultural programming, and comprehensive support services to international students, helping them succeed in academic and professional settings. The Temporary English Language Center Program Associate will:
- Coordinate day-to-day program operations.
- Process ELC applications in an expedient manner.
- Advise ELC students on immigration, personal, and other matters.
- Coordinate events and programs such as airport pick-ups, orientation, welcome dinners, trips, graduation, Conversation Partner Program, etc.
- Work collaboratively with on- and off-campus student support services (Housing/home-stay, Health Center, Auxiliary Services, service learning opportunities, etc.).
- Maintain accurate records and documentation.
- Work with the ELC Director to implement the communication plan for prospective and current students, campus and community partners.
- Manage website content for ELC pages.
- Manage ELC social media platforms.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements |
- Excellent command of the English language, written and oral, and effective interpersonal communication skills.
- Work outside of scheduled hours and/or on the weekend may be required
- Ability to drive a 15-passenger van.

Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills & Experience |
- Bachelor's degree or equivalency and one year of experience coordinating ESL or other university programs; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
- International admissions experience.
- Exceptional attention to detail with a strong ability to work autonomously and take initiative without direct supervision.

Please note, this is a temporary position. The length of the assignment will be based on department need with the possibility of continuation. Temporary assignments cannot exceed 11 consecutive months without a full 31-day break from employment. Employees in temporary positions are not considered permanent state employees and do not earn leave. Temporary employees are subject to the Affordable Care Act guidelines.
