HJF is seeking a Clinical Research Coordinator II to support the Clinical Trials Program and various research protocols at the John P. Murtha Cancer Center (MCC) located at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center (WRNMMC) in Bethesda, Maryland. HJF provides scientific, technical and programmatic support services to MCC.

This position will support the following research studies at this site including: TAXIS (Tailored axillary surgery with or without axillary lymph node dissection followed by radiotherapy in patients with clinically node-positive breast cancer), Vanguard (device clinical trial), BCRF (Longitudinal Integrative Blood Profiling Analysis in Metastatic Breast Cancer) , MCC Biobank, CBCP Tissue and Blood Library, ORIEN, APOLLO-5, and PROMETHEUS-8A

The John P. Murtha Cancer Center at Walter Reed Bethesda is a modern, patient-centric, tri-service military healthcare facility. HJF's support and administrative capabilities allow military medical researchers and clinicians to maintain their scientific focus and accomplish their research goals.



  • Reviews new patient records and screens patients for eligibility in participation of research protocol. Interviews patients for protocols and collects and analyzes appropriate data for recruitment purposes, determine patient commitment and obtains informed consent. Educates patients about the research protocol, their roles in the protocols, and any other vital information.
  • Collects, organizes, catalogs, disseminates, and maintains appropriate files of current data. Maintains weekly/monthly status reports on all patients.
  • Acts as a liaison between patients and physicians and serves as a resource for the patients.
  • Transcribes and resolves queries of data in case report forms and prepares documents, under direction of project heads.
  • Adheres to legal, professional and ethical codes with respect to confidentiality and privacy. Assures that protocol requirements are achieved within Good Clinical Practices.
  • Schedules patients for appointments and visits. Assists with monitoring audits/visits for protocols.
  • Performs specimen processing (buccal swabs and saliva specimens), transport (saliva, blood, buccal swabs, derm tissue), and shipping.
  • May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by the supervisor. This may include attendance of and participation in required training for role.


Education and Experience



  • Bachelor's Degree required.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years experience required.


Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities



  • Knowledge of federal and local regulations and policies pertinent to research involving human subjects.
  • Must have experience consenting and enrolling subject to clinical research trials.
  • Experience processing and shipping specimens.
  • Excellent interpersonal and computer skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and to work with individuals of all levels.
  • US citizenship required. Must be able to obtain and maintain a T1/Public Trust background check.


Work Environment



  • This position will take place primarily in a Clinic setting.


Compensation



  • The hourly pay range for this position is $57,650-$78,000. Actual salary will be determined based on experience, education, etc.
