Your role

As the Sales Engineer, your mission is to act as the primary customer-facing liaison between the Leybold factory and the client. You will be responsible for driving sales by educating key stakeholders on vacuum technology advancements and best practices. This role focuses primarily on customers within the Scientific market sectors and is accountable for managing and growing business within a defined geographical territory. You will identify new opportunities, nurture existing relationships, and collaborate with internal departments to ensure complete customer satisfaction and long-term success.

Your Role includes

  • Driving sales of Leybold products within an assigned account base and geographic territory, with a focus on Scientific customers in sectors such as Space Research, Commercial Space Production, High Energy Physics, Fusion Technology, Quantum Computing, Nuclear Medicine, Semiconductor, Solar, Analytical, Coating, and more
  • Balancing time between the home office and travel to customer sites to conduct sales visits, perform product demonstrations, assist with troubleshooting, and engage with some of the world's most technologically advanced factories and R&D facilities
  • Establishing and executing aggressive segment and product territory sales strategies and goals, in alignment with segment/product marketing and the Head of Sales
  • Identifying and capturing new business opportunities and expanding existing accounts for Leybold products and services
  • Ensuring customer satisfaction and resolving complaints promptly through collaboration with internal departments
  • Providing professional sales support including technical guidance, product selection, quotations, contract administration, and terms & conditions
  • Completing all required reports and assignments-such as monthly reports, visit logs, forecasts, and expense reports-in a timely and accurate manner
  • Utilizing CRM tools for all reporting and account management activities as directed by sales leadership
  • Participating in trade shows, seminars, and training sessions to stay informed on industry trends, competitive products, and customer needs
  • Setting and pursuing both short-term (12-month) and long-term (3-year) sales goals
  • Demonstrating key products at customer sites to showcase value and functionality
  • Maintaining company property including vehicles, computers, demo equipment, consignment stock, and other assets under your control or located at customer sites
  • Performing other duties as assigned to support business objectives.
To succeed, you will need

  • You have at least one year working knowledge of a technical product or service, perferably with vacuum equipment
  • B.S degree in Engineering or similar technical discipline or relevant experience in a technically focused or technical role
  • Experience with on-site customer facing role
  • Ability to learn, analyze, comprehend, and translate complex technical information
  • Ability to create custom solutions to address specific process needs by bringing together the necessary company technical resources is a must
  • Ability to focus from one task to another
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent PC skills are required (MS Office, Word, Excel, & PowerPoint)
  • Valid driver's license required

Compensation:

The starting salary for this role differs based on the employee's primary work location. Employees typically do not start at the top of the range, though compensation depends on everyone's qualifications.

Location Based Pay Range:

$96,600 - $151,800 in this state: CA

Job location

This role is fully remote, enabling you to work from anywhere within the Bay Area while being associated with our customer center in the United States. This position will require very frequent travel, 50% of the position, often overnight or multiple days. Domestic and international.
