Position: Outside Sales - On-Highway and Heavy-Duty Equipment service labor sales Position Summary The On-Highway and Heavy-Duty Sales Representative is primarily responsible for driving service labor sales for on-highway and heavy-duty equipment at Interstate Power Systems' Omaha Nebraska location. This role emphasizes promoting and selling labor services, including maintenance, repairs, and diagnostics, while also supporting parts sales. The representative will build and maintain strong customer relationships, identify sales opportunities, and deliver exceptional service to meet the needs of fleets, owner-operators, and other commercial customers in the on-highway and heavy-duty transportation industry. The ideal candidate is a motivated, customer-focused professional with a strong understanding of on-highway and heavy-duty equipment services and parts. Key Responsibilities
- Service Labor Sales: Actively promote and sell labor services, including maintenance, repairs, and diagnostics for on-highway and heavy-duty vehicles, coordinating with service teams to ensure high-quality and timely delivery.
- Parts Sales Support: Assist in selling on-highway and heavy-duty parts, including OEM and aftermarket options, to complement service offerings and meet customer needs.
- Sales Development: Prospect and develop new business opportunities for service labor and parts, targeting fleets, owner-operators, and other commercial customers.
- Customer Relationship Management: Build and maintain long-term relationships with existing and potential customers, ensuring high levels of satisfaction and repeat business.
- Product and Service Knowledge: Develop and maintain in-depth knowledge of on-highway and heavy-duty equipment, including diesel engines, transmissions, and related components, to provide expert recommendations.
- Quoting and Pricing: Prepare accurate quotes for labor services and parts, negotiate pricing within company guidelines, and follow up to close sales.
- Market Awareness: Stay informed about industry trends, competitor offerings, and customer needs to identify growth opportunities and maintain a competitive edge.
- Sales Reporting: Track sales activities, maintain accurate records in the CRM system, and provide regular reports to management on sales performance and forecasts.
- Collaboration: Work closely with service technicians, parts counter staff, and other departments to ensure seamless customer experiences and efficient order fulfillment.
- Customer Support: Address customer inquiries, resolve issues promptly, and provide post-sale support to ensure customer satisfaction.
Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor's degree in business, sales, or a related field preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in sales, preferably in the on-highway or heavy-duty equipment industry. Experience with service labor sales is highly preferred; parts sales experience is a plus.
- Skills:
- Strong sales and negotiation skills with a proven ability to close deals.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build rapport with customers.
- Knowledge of on-highway and heavy-duty vehicle services and parts, including diesel engines, transmissions, and related components.
- Proficiency in CRM software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Attributes: Self-motivated, results-driven, and customer-focused with a strong work ethic and attention to detail.
- Licenses: Valid driver's license required; CDL is a plus but not mandatory.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and move parts weighing up to 50 pounds occasionally.
- Occasional travel to customer sites within the region may be required.
Work Environment
- Primarily office-based with regular visits to customer locations and the service shop.
- Standard hours are Monday through Friday, with occasional evenings or weekends to meet customer needs.
