How You'll Contribute:
The Senior Broadcast Engineer is the primary technical authority responsible for the integrity, reliability, and performance of all broadcast and studio systems at a single high-profile production facility in New York City. Acting as both the first and last line of troubleshooting, this role operates independently to provide real-time quality control and ensure the performance of all critical broadcast systems during live productions.
In addition to live monitoring, the Senior Broadcast Engineer is responsible for the ongoing maintenance, readiness, and optimization of the entire studio infrastructure, ensuring all systems perform reliably before, during, and after production. This role is also prepared to step in and directly operate production equipment in emergency situations to maintain broadcast continuity. The engineer provides technical leadership by recommending workflow improvements, optimizing system configurations, and serving as the bridge between studio engineering and IT teams on networking and IP broadcast issues.
This is a studio-focused engineering role (not AV-centric), requiring advanced expertise in Evertz routing platforms (SDI and IP-based), high-level technical acumen with SDVN orchestration, hybrid media transport, studio hardware systems, and large-format display technologies including Planar and Sony CLED (Crystal LED) Signature Displays.
What You'll Do:
Studio & Broadcast Operations
- Serve as the lead engineer for daily broadcast and studio operations at the New York City facility.
- Conduct daily readiness checks and preventive maintenance across all broadcast and studio systems to ensure operational reliability.
- Provide quality control and ensure the performance of routing, switching, graphics, audio, video, monitoring, and studio hardware systems during live productions.
- In the event of system failure or operator error, step in to directly operate production equipment to maintain broadcast continuity.
Maintenance & Readiness
- Develop and follow preventive maintenance schedules for all studio infrastructure, including cameras, switchers, audio consoles, intercoms, routers, video walls, servers, and monitoring systems.
- Maintain documentation of system configurations, cabling, signal flows, and maintenance activities.
- Ensure redundancy systems are tested regularly (power, network, and failover paths).
- Identify vulnerabilities and proactively recommend upgrades or replacements to improve studio reliability and performance.
Troubleshooting & Systems Support
- Act as the first and final escalation point for all technical issues during live productions.
- Diagnose and resolve complex failures involving Evertz routing platforms (SDI and IP-based), SDVN orchestration, IP signal transport, and studio hardware such as cameras, switchers, intercoms, and audio consoles.
- Collaborate with IT teams to troubleshoot and resolve networking-related issues (VLANs, multicast, QoS).
Technology Leadership
- Recommend and implement improvements in workflows, systems architecture, and technical practices.
- Manage vendor escalations and coordinate external support when required.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to junior technicians or operators assigned to productions.
- Advise on and support the transition from SDI to IP-based broadcast infrastructures where applicable.
Specialized Systems Expertise
- Maintain and optimize Evertz Magnum routing control and SDVN orchestration systems across hybrid SDI/IP workflows.
- Operate and troubleshoot large-format display technologies including Planar video walls and Sony CLED (Crystal LED) Signature Displays, ensuring proper calibration and performance.
- Provide advanced support for Ross XPression graphics, Dante/AES67 audio networks, and broadcast monitoring tools.
- Support ancillary systems such as digital signage, transcoding, and media asset management.

High School Diploma or equivalent
Required Skills/Qualifications:
- 7+ years of broadcast engineering experience in a studio/control room environment.
- Expert-level troubleshooting skills across video/audio routing, IP media systems, and studio hardware (switchers, cameras, audio consoles, intercoms, monitoring chains, servers, and video walls).
- Strong expertise in Evertz routing systems (SDI and IP-based), including Magnum control platforms and SDVN orchestration.
- High-level technical acumen in managing hybrid and IP-based broadcast infrastructures.
