Senior Civil Engineer

US Citizenship Required

Job Summary

The Senior Civil Engineer will prepare and develop designs for earthwork, underground commodities, roads, foundations, and profiles in support of Department of Defense and U.S. Air Force projects. This role will specifically support the Ground Based Strategic Deterrent (GBSD) program during the Engineering and Manufacturing Development (EMD) phase. Candidates must demonstrate strong organizational skills, teamwork, proven problem-solving ability, and a proactive approach to innovative design.

Major Responsibilities

  • Support design development for civil engineering systems by preparing studies, drawings, calculations, specifications, data sheets, and evaluations in accordance with procedures, codes, standards, and contract requirements
  • Develop grading and backfill designs and drawings
  • Prepare road and foundation design documents
  • Assist with boring oversight, site inspections, and review of existing facilities
  • Perform formal calculations and prepare design drawings
  • Review subcontractor/vendor data and integrate it into design solutions
  • Execute work to meet schedule requirements while maintaining high quality standards
  • Coordinate closely with other disciplines to deliver integrated design solutions


Education and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) in Civil Engineering or related field with 5-8 years of relevant experience, or 9-12 years of relevant work experience


Required Knowledge and Skills

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Visio, and common design software
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to utilize engineering and office automation tools effectively
  • Broad knowledge of civil engineering design principles, specifications, and applications
  • Familiarity with industry and regulatory codes, standards, and guides


Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Civil or related Engineering from an accredited institution
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in Civil Engineering (U.S.)
  • Experience with ISO-9000 or similar quality assurance programs
  • Prior experience with government agencies, particularly the Department of Defense
  • Working knowledge of Revit and/or InRoads
  • Intermediate knowledge of CSI Masterformat specifications or SpecsIntact
  • Design experience with Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC) and Whole Building Design Guide (WBDG)
  • Experience with complex excavation approaches and construction execution; field experience preferred


Project Overview

This position supports the Sentinel Program, which is modernizing the ground-based component of the U.S. nuclear deterrent triad, including intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) systems and launch infrastructure. The scope includes civil and infrastructure design and development during the program's Engineering and Manufacturing Development phase.
