Job Summary
Lubricate machinery, change parts, or perform other routine machinery maintenance. Actively involved in preventive maintenance program to achieve machine goals.
Responsibilities
- Install, troubleshoot, repair and maintain CNC machinery, electrical systems, pneumatic and hydraulic equipment
- Reassemble machines after the completion of repair or maintenance work.
- Start machines and observe mechanical operation to determine efficiency and to detect problems.
- Inspect or test damaged machine parts, and mark defective areas or advise supervisors of repair needs.
- Lubricate or apply adhesives or other materials to machines, machine parts, or other equipment, according to specified procedures.
- Install, replace, or change machine parts and attachments, according to production specifications.
- Dismantle machines and remove parts for repair, using hand tools, chain falls, jacks, cranes, or hoists.
- Record production, repair, and machine maintenance information.
- Read work orders and specifications to determine machines and equipment requiring repair or maintenance.
- Set up and operate machines, and adjust controls to regulate operations.
- Collaborate with other workers to repair or move machines, machine parts, or equipment.
- Inventory and requisition machine parts, equipment, and other supplies so that stock can be maintained and replenished.
- Transport machine parts, tools, equipment, and other material between work areas and storage, using cranes, hoists, or dollies.
- Collect and discard worn machine parts and other refuse in order to maintain machinery and work areas.
- Clean machines and machine parts, using cleaning solvents, cloths, air guns, hoses, vacuums, or other equipment.
- Replace or repair metal, wood, leather, glass, or other lining in machines, or in equipment compartments or containers.
- Demonstrates excellence in completion of all other duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Three (3) years' experience with CNC machine maintenance preferred
Travel & Work Arrangements/Requirements
- Frequently required to sit, stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls and reach with hands and arms
- Occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl
- Occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
- Occasionally required to work near moving mechanical parts
- Occasionally required to work in outside weather conditions and exposure to moderate cold and heat
- Frequent exposure to various chemicals, lubricants, and grease
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high
Key Competencies
- Demonstrated experience in electrical and mechanical maintenance including motors, controls, power supplies, AC/DC theory, power distribution, PLC's, hydraulics/pneumatics, lubrication, power transmission and pumps
- Demonstrated ability to follow all established safe work procedures including, but not limited to personal protection equipment, lockout/tag-out requirements and electrical safety
- Read and interpret blueprints, technical parts manuals such as electrical and mechanical diagrams, and ability to effectively use and read gages, meters, calipers and other measuring tools
- Effective and safe use of all required tools including, but not limited to, drills, saws, torches, welders, cranes & hoists, forklifts and other maintenance equipment
- Ability to work other shifts, weekends and overtime as needed
