Powder Application Specialist

As aPowder Application Specialistyou will be responsible for working as a part of the Powder Applications team as a part of the Powder Regional Technical organization. The Powder Application Specialist will be focused on the application support that will be used to drive growth of PPG's Powder business across all segments. You will work closely with the formulation team to determine application windows for both the development of new products and the testing and validation of existing products being tested for new uses. This individual will be required to support application trials and product launches by working with the Commercial and Business Development Teams to ensure success at the customer.

Key Responsibilities

• Must have excellent communication skills and the ability to work closely with Chemists and Technicians from the Technical Team along with working closely with Commercial Team
• Ability to solve problems creatively and innovatively
• Ability to complete projects according to outlined scope within the established timeline
• 25% travel to customer lines for trials and launches
• 75% in Application Lab running lab projects and application trials for a wide variety of products for powder markets
• Work with the PPG Coating Services Team to help develop application solutions new customers looking to establish new low cure powder application lines.
• Lead formal and informal training sessions for PPG technical service reps and customers in the application of powder
• Understands how to take field observations into the Lab, work hand in hand with the field/customers in development of experimental design testing & analysis.
• Willingly puts in extra time and effort, seeks, listens, and acts on the input of people at all levels.

Qualifications

• B.S. in chemistry, engineering, or equivalent scientific degree preferred
• 5+ years of direct experience in powder coating application
• Strong interpersonal skills and extremely resourceful
• Skilled ability to solve problems and identify root cause(s) using business process improvement tools
