Monitor and analyze the performance of the line or book of business, provide product strategy recommendations to divisional and departmental leadership.

Evaluate and track competitor products, pricing information and target markets.

Research competitor pricing and rating programs providing insights and analysis to the business for pricing enhancements and new products. May specialize in product management and/or product development accountabilities depending upon business need.

The Senior Product Analyst will report to the Senior Manager, Product.

In this hybrid role, you will be expected to work a minimum of 10 days per month from the office. Candidates should reside within approximately 35-50 miles of one of the following office locations: Madison, WI 53783; Boston, MA 02110.

Position Compensation Range:

$86,000.00 - $142,000.00

Compensation may vary based on the job level and your geographic work location. Relocation support is offered for eligible candidates.

Primary Accountabilities

  • Support product and pricing decisions, working closely with analytics, catastrophe management, countrywide actuarial, state management, and partner management teams.
  • Analyze the company's competitive position with a particular emphasis on pricing levels and product offerings relative to competitors.
  • Read competitor filings, earnings calls, insurtech blogs, and insurance-related publications to monitor the market and distribute relevant actions taken by competitors.
  • Assist in developing reporting and database functionality for other business units to consume, maintain a robust library of all competitive information, and provide updates and in-depth analysis of new competitors and new technologies within the market.
  • Monitor and analyze the performance of the product lines, agent, or book of business.
  • Evaluate profit factors and conducts analysis of performance data to provides product strategy recommendations relating to profit, growth, retention, and overall book of business.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with other lines to identify product gaps and opportunities.
  • Researche and develop concepts for complex new or enhanced products and/or services.
  • Work with partners in pricing/actuarial, claims, etc. to ensure product compliance and financial viability.
  • Produce detailed competitive research and analysis for personal lines products using a variety of information sources and tools to support decision making. Analyze all available data forming conclusions regarding our competitive position in the marketplace. Provide recommendations to leadership to capitalize on product offerings and geographical areas.
  • Provide expertise regarding how competitor actions and industry trends influences personal lines ability to meet corporate and divisional objectives. Make recommendations to management regarding operational and product changes that may enhance our competitive position.
  • Stay abreast of all rate changes, rating enhancements and program changes by our competitors; research competitor filings, rate and rule manuals to ascertain changes made and their impact on our competitive position. Ensure analysis and reporting accuracy explaining drivers and insights relating to competitive position changes.

Specialized Knowledge & Skills Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience providing customer-driven solutions, support or service.
  • Demonstrated experience performing complex financial, actuarial or business analysis.
  • Solid knowledge and understanding of customer, business industry, insurance, underwriting guidelines and risk concepts in area of expertise.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and analytical skills to review complex products, and/or lines of business.
  • Demonstrated experience making independent decisions.
  • Demonstrated experience in project management methodologies, practices, techniques and tools.

Additional Specialized Knowledge & Skills

  • Code Based Language Experience: Experience with Python, R, SQL and SQL Server Management Studio is preferred;
  • Software Experience: Experience with data visualization programs like Tableau, Looker and Looker Studio preferred, intermediate to advanced skills in Excel and PowerPoint is required;
  • Cloud Tools Experience: Experience with cloud tools such as GCP, AWS, BigQuery and GitLab preferred
  • Prioritization:A self-starter who can prioritize rapidly shifting assignments effectively;
  • Structured & Logical Thinking:The ability to understand and analyze business problems and issues, and determine and recommend appropriate frameworks to conduct analyses;
  • Analytical Rigor: Analyze product performance, identify additional areas of research, and recommend improvements;
  • Effective Communication: The ability to communicate effectively and succinctly across a variety of media including facilitation and presenting results to management
