General Notes

The Dell Medical School is seeking a Research Assistant on site at partner clinic locations (CommUnity Care and Lone Star Circle of Care) for a temporary, part-time position at 12 hours per week ending December 2025.

Purpose

The Research Assistant supports the research team at Factor Health Lab by conducting research experiments, collecting and analyzing data, and maintaining accurate records.Key responsibilities include assisting with in-person data collection, outreaching to patients to assess their interest in research program, and obtaining written consent from patients. This position is integral to ensuring the integrity and quality of research projects within the Factor Health Lab at Dell Medical School.

Responsibilities

Data Collection and Analysis

  • Collects and analyzes data using statistical methods and software including RedCap, Excel, Box, project specific websites, and other software and databases to enter data and track study activities.

  • Ensures data integrity and accuracy.

  • Conducts study visits, participant outreach, and measurements.

Experimentation and Protocol Compliance

  • Assists in designing and executing experiments.

  • Follows established protocols and guidelines.

  • Monitors compliance with safety and ethical standards.

  • Prepares and tracks participant sample results and notifications.

Report Preparation and Presentation

  • Prepares research reports and presentations in RedCap and PowerPoint.

  • Summarizes findings of day-to-day research measurements and informs team of issues should they arise.

  • Presents data to research team and stakeholders at weekly team meetings.

  • Distributes participant educational materials.

Administrative Support

  • Assists in scheduling of meetings.

  • Manages research-related correspondence.

  • Serves as a point of contact for study participants.

  • Keeps track of research supply inventory.

Marginal or Periodic Functions:

Equipment Maintenance

  • Calibrates and maintains laboratory equipment.

  • Troubleshoots technical issues as needed.

Training and Supervision

  • Provides guidance to undergraduate students or interns.

  • Assists in training new research staff.

Field Work

  • Travels to field sites for data collection.

  • Conducts interviews and surveys as required.

  • Adheres to internal controls and reporting structure.

  • Performs related duties as required.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Biology, Psychology, Social Sciences). 1 year of relevant research experience. Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate. Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

Spanish speaking. 3 years of research experience, including clinical trials. Experience with biomedical measurements (i.e., blood pressure, finger stick)

Salary Range

$15.00/hour + depending on qualifications
