The Tutoring and SI Services Coordinator supports peer and professional tutors, and Supplemental Instruction staff in the Student Success Center. The Tutoring and SI Services Coordinator will schedule, supervise, and develop peer and professional tutors, by providing resources, training, and mentorship. This role also acts as a liaison with staff and faculty to promote and coordinate the SI and tutoring programs, and ensure students are provided with the support they need to succeed in their courses.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Facilitate the process of recruiting, hiring, and training peer and professional tutors for quantitative skills, supplemental instruction, and Upswing online portal during each academic year.
- Create schedules for peer and professional tutors based on center usage and requests from university faculty.
- Plan and direct periodic/regular staff meetings with peer and SI leaders and plan trainings for peer and professional tutors and SI leaders
- Provide on-site and virtual supervision of the tutoring/SI program
- Provide leadership for planning, implementing, documenting, and evaluating tutorial/SI services activities.
- Engage in tutor/SI evaluation and make recommendations for program improvement by helping them plan sessions, observing their sessions, and critiquing their performance
- Assist with revision of tutor/SI leader training materials
- Provide supplies, assist with in-service experiences, consultations and learning strategy sessions for peer and professional tutors and SI leaders
- Seek and develop opportunities for training temporary staff to obtain applicable certifications which enhance their knowledge and ability to provide impactful assistance.
- Serve as a liaison between tutorial and SI services, staff and faculty to ensure tutoring/SI services and interventions support the needs in each subject matter.
- Promote the tutor/SI program
- Respond in a timely manner to requests and inquiries
- Assist with budgetary issues
- Complete payroll-related and personnel paperwork (e.g., TPAFS)
- Prepare a data report at the close of each semester
- Maintain inventory of electronic devices, equipment, apparatus, and other equipment
- Other duties as assigned

8 a.m. to 11 p.m., Monday - Thursday; 8 a.m. - 5 p.m., Friday Some weekends may be required based on the demand for services. Change of scheduled hours or scheduled days shall be given at least 2 weeks prior to the start of the new work times/days. |
Department Required Skills |
- Bachelor's degree; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
- 2-3 years of related experience
- Comfort with local mainframe computing
- Ability to plan and supervise support staff and student workers.
- Ability to analyze, interpret, and apply policy and procedural guidelines and resolve problems and questions concerning scholarships and merit awards
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to relate and establish relationships with various people internal and external to the University
- Must have the skills to organize the workflow and coordinate program activities
- Must be able to deal effectively with a multitude of different publics with various needs, questions, and concerns
- Must be able to handle stressful and difficult situations
- The position also requires that the person be comfortable in one-on-one or group counseling activities
