The Office of Diversity and Business Enterprise (ODBE) is responsible for the administration of Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) program in accordance with the mandates and regulations of the FTA and other federal, state, and local government statutes. ODBE ensures managers and staff understand the importance of diversity and ensuring nondiscrimination in the award and administration of Metra contracts. Reporting to the Director DBE, the Labor Compliance Specialist 1 is responsible for the data entry of state and federal prevailing wage requirements and project start-up information into the labor compliance database; review apprentice certifications for completeness; and assist with project site visits. The primary duties include: Provide staff support; prepare and update records, reports, and presentations; maintain prevailing wage data and project start-up information; enter data into the labor compliance database; and ensure accuracy of all entries. Assist with the coordination and performance of duties that ensure construction projects operate in compliance with state and federal regulations, including but not limited to prevailing wages and labor laws. Monitor project and contract status; ensure contractors and prevailing wages are assigned to projects correctly; and inactive projects are closed out timely. Gather, review, and verify apprentice certifications and related documents; and ensure completeness and accuracy. May attend pre-construction meetings and project site visits; assist with disseminating labor compliance requirements to contractors; and interviewing workers to ensure compliance with required postings. Promote safe work practices and maintain and foster a safe work environment. Works under both inside and outside environmental conditions under prevailing conditions of heat, cold, rain, and snow. Perform other related duties as assigned to meet the ongoing needs of the organization.
