The UMKC Berkley Child and Family Development Center, located on the UMKC Volker campus, is seeking experienced part-time childcare assistants with positive attitudes, strong problem-solving skills, and who are committed to providing the highest quality childcare.

POSITION OVERVIEW

As a Child Care Assistant, you will provide guidance and care and facilitate the development of children enrolled in the Berkley Child and Family Development Center. Duties include but are not limited to:

• Assist teachers in carrying out curriculum, care activities and routines
• Interact with families daily
• Assist teachers with paperwork as needed
• Assist with classroom's general housekeeping
• Participate in classroom decisions involving procedures and program as delegated by supervisors
• Answering phone
• Light clerical work (typing, filing, etc.)
• Attend staff meetings
• Participate in required in-service trainings as required by Missouri State Licensing
• May regularly lift up to 50 pounds and perform actions such as pushing, pulling, bending.
• Other duties as assigned.

Part-time staff must be available to work until 12:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. Monday through Friday. Shifts can range from all day (8:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M.), to part day (12:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M.). Shifts may be flexible. Hours are not guaranteed.

High school diploma or equivalent and some experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.

Must be a minimum of 18 years of age.

Child Development Associate (CDA) Certificate, attendance in child development classes, and/or one year experience in a child care environment are preferred.

Anticipated salary is $15.00 per hour.

This position is not eligible for University benefits. Individuals in non benefit eligible positions may choose to participate in the Tax Deferred Annuity Plan (403b).
