JOB TITLE: Advisor, Engineering & Technical Support Specialist / Senior Technical Advisor

DUTIES:

Plan, develop, implement and administer a variety of broad or unique technical or programmatic functions in direct support of engineering, scientic, or computing related activities and functions. Provide technical guidance, direction, oversight, and leadership to a functional work group(s), section or unit in a technical support capacity. Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) or act in a predominantly lead capacity and may direct the work of others in a non-supervisory capacity.

Apply the highest technical experience in eld of specialization or broad-based experience in multiple technical elds to resolve complex problems.

Incorporate advanced technical practices and a variety of complex features directly or indirectly in support of engineering, computing, or scientic activities in the area, department, section, unit or work group assigned.

Provide leadership in determining solutions to complex problems and be recognized as having expertise in a functional or technical area.

Receive assignments in the form of generally dened objectives and establish goals to meet objectives.

Exhibit complete competency at the highest technical or programmatic level as demonstrated by both personal expertise and the eective direction and leadership of assigned work group.

Generally acknowledged as one of the highest-level subject matter experts in a sta or lead position for the general function or area supported.

Enhances the technical capabilities of the group by implementing new and improved analyses and methodologies.

May perform program/project analysis and interpretation. Evaluate the results of programs and prepare reports and recommendations based on these evaluations. Identify and recommend improvements where existing or established technology components and methodology are inadequate for solution.

Keep informed of the advancement of technology as applied through one's area of expertise.

May provide limited guidance to exempt employees and general guidance to nonexempt employees. Assists less experienced personnel with more dicult aspects of work and provides guidance to less senior employees to achieve assignments using established guidelines, procedures and policies. Plans, prioritizes and coordinates work for others in order to meet unit or work deadlines. Operate under tight deadlines and may be subject to extreme workloads.

Dene specic problems based on general information from management or customers. Plan technical eort and coordinate activities with those in other divisions, departments, and sections in focus areas to solve problems. Communicate results and objectives verbally and in manuscript form to customers, colleagues, and management.

Evaluate proposals and make recommendations based on proposed projects/tasks in area of assignment. May delegate portions of the detail work to less senior personnel.

Often functions as customer interface and liaison for the department for programs and projects.

Establish and recommend changes to policy which aect subordinate organizations. Provide centralized control of a program or process that supports technical activities. Interpret and communicate programmatic, technical, or process changes to personnel. Develop, implement and conduct training for personnel and management impacted by assigned programmatic, technical or support function. Mentor less experienced sta personnel.

May assist the manager in the preparation, forecasting and reporting of organization performance, budgets, manpower requirements, workload distribution and the development of resource requirements. May provide feedback and recommendations to management on work group performance for the purpose of training, discipline, promotion and demotion. May provide relief for or represent the next immediate level of management.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

Education: Bachelor's degree in a technical eld and at least 15 years of experience relevant to the functional technical area supported. Associate's degree and 18 years relevant experience. High School Diploma and 20+ years of relevant experience.

Experience/Skills: Candidate must demonstrate a minimum of 20 years of operation and technical experience in the Tritium Facilities (NNSA) or the commercial nuclear industry. Candidate must have been certied/qualied in one of the Tritium Facilities and has in-depth knowledge of Tritium Processes to include (Unloading, Mixing, Z-Bed Recovery and Mass Spectrometry etc.). Previous experience with the use and implementation of DOE Order 426.2, 4B Manual, 2S Manual Conduct of Operation, and related directives and standards. Demonstrated prociency in the Oral Board processes, Comprehensive Exams, JPM's and Technical Study Guides for Operation/Engineering/Maintenance. Candidate must demonstrate personal accountability for facility/project schedules, deadlines, budgets, and the safe performance of work; and prociency in performing Nuclear Technical Support assessments.

Demonstrated previous Tritium experience is preferred.

Alternate combination of experience/qualication & certication will be considered where candidate does not have a degree.

OTHER REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Area Security Access: Candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE "Q" security clearance. An active DOE clearance is not initially required to perform assigned duties. After award, the selected candidate will be notified when to apply for a clearance based on specific work assignments

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Candidates who have possessed an active DOE clearance (L or Q) within the past two (2) years are preferred.

Work Hours: A 40 hour work week is scheduled. Company utilizes various work schedules including 5/8s (8 hour/day; five days per week), 4/10's (10 hours/day; four days per week), and 9/80's (9 hours/day, five days on week AA and four days on week BB. Work week excludes company holidays. Each workday has 30-minute lunch. Overtime will be expected at times to meet deliverables and will be utilized at the discretion of the Manager
