The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Job DescriptionSummary: The Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) Technician is responsible for operating and maintaining an industrial WWTP. This includes water management in the process water loop, Quencher water loop, cooling water loop and blow down system. Ensures discharge from the blow down system is in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations which include sampling, onsite testing, monitoring, and recordkeeping. Conducts operator preventative maintenance and repairs. Disposes of wastes generated at the WWTP in accordance with local, state, and federal guidelines. Works during an assigned shift in a safe, continuous, and efficient manner while maintaining environmental, safety and housekeeping standards. QualificationsQualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Experience in manufacturing, heavy industry, or WWTP environment preferred. Computer Skills: Computer literate; proficient with Microsoft Windows, MS Office programs and applications for word processing, email, database management and spreadsheets. Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze and interpret equipment manuals, general technical instructions, work instructions, operating procedures, and Company policies. Ability to document data, complete forms and prepare routine reports. Ability to speak effectively, present information clearly and respond to questions. Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as mass, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume and apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. Mechanical Skills: Ability to understand the use of machines and tools and diagnose and correct equipment malfunction. Has thorough knowledge of mechanical equipment; has working knowledge of preventive maintenance and repair on basic machinery. Has considerable knowledge of operating principles and practices and maintenance requirements of treatment and pumping equipment and machinery. Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, schedule or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and solve practical problems. Other Skills: Skill in operating heavy mobile equipment.
