Quality Manager As part of the Site Leadership Team reporting to the Total Quality Senior Manager and leading a team of 3-5, the Site Quality Manager is the site leader for all things quality, inclusive of quality assurance, quality control, and quality improvement. The most successful candidates will be managers who deeply understand and appreciate systems thinking (people and processes) and possess knowledge of variation to include predictive ability. The Site Quality Manager develops, implements, and manages quality control systems designed to ensure continuous production of advanced composite materials and applications (consistent with established standards, customer specifications and Cremer goals). This role engages suppliers and customers with limited travel expectations (<10%). MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- B.A. or B.S degree or equivalent combination of experience and education.
- 7+ years of progressive experience managing quality control in an industrial or manufacturing setting.
- Experience with ISO 9001, SQF, HACCP, GMP, IPEC, and other quality programs (e.g., Halal, Kosher, RSPO).
- Supervised/Managed a staff of 5 or more.
- Chemical processing experience and/or knowledge of chemistry are highly valued.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Train and develop direct reports to their fullest potential to support organizational needs, including maintenance and improvement to the department's tiered training system;
- Align assigned team with organizational objectives through key performance indicator development and maintain focus through daily huddles, one-on-ones, and other meetings, as necessary, inclusive of daily work assignments;
- Maintains quality department staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees;
- Maintains quality department staff job results by coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees planning, monitoring, and appraising job results;
- Communicate progress toward key performance indicator goal attainment through daily management boards (i.e., huddle boards), where appropriate;
- Communicate strategic vision throughout the organization and how daily work aligns with strategic vision;
- Relentlessly pursue continuous improvement activities to achieve world-class organizational performance to support strategic vision;
- Deliberately act to establish a continuous improvement culture, tactfully challenging others to improve individual and group performance, engaging the entire workforce;
- Coordinate objectives with production procedures in cooperation with others to maximize product reliability and minimize costs;
- Represent Cremer as single point of contact on quality-centric issues with suppliers and customers alike, inclusive of root cause investigations, countermeasure development, and formal responses through customer-required systems;
- Maintain and improve product quality by completing product, system, and internal audits;
- Develop and analyze statistical data and product specifications to determine standards and to establish quality and reliability expectations of finished products;
- Provide technical and statistical expertise to teams;
- Review new business opportunities to ensure current standards meet customer expectations and partner to develop processes with internal colleagues and customer to develop methods if current processes do not meet customer expectations;
- Ensure site compliance with internal and external regulatory requirements;
- Compile and report team's progress in the Quality Management Review meetings.
- Document and maintain quality control standards and ongoing quality control objectives;
- Create, document, and implement inspection criteria and procedures to ensure timely release of produced goods;
- Provide, and oversee, inspection activity for product throughout production cycle;
- Apply total quality management tools and approaches to analytical and reporting processes.
- Interact with vendors to ensure quality of all purchased parts (vendor nonconformances, supplier corrective actions and critical supplier strategic review)
- Lead site management of change process, while supporting others in their change initiatives with advice, expertise, and review;
- Facilitate critical (e.g., repeating, severity) nonconformance investigations, while supporting others in their nonconformance investigations as needed;
- Serve as member of HACCP team;
- Administer electronic quality management system (IQS) to ensure managements of change, nonconformance investigations, and corrective actions meet internal and external expectations;
- Participate in internal/external audits and execute site corporate quality programs/certifications;
- Complete all required training assignments
- Adhere to all site environmental, health, safety, and security requirements, local, state, and federal regulations
- Maintain hazardous waste in accordance to all local, state, and federal regulations
- Follow all RC14001 guiding principles, policies, procedures, and other requirements.
