This opportunity is located within our EnviroLogix business that develops and manufactures testing solutions for detecting GMOs, mycotoxins, plant pathogens, natural toxins and chemical contaminants in multiple agricultural matrices. Job Description About the Role EnviroLogix is looking for an Associate Production Scientist I, based in our Portland, ME facility. You will be a key member of our team, with primary responsibilities including:
- Follow established safe work practices and work in a safe manner.
- Follow EnviroLogix safety policies and procedures for reporting any unsafe or hazardous condition to their supervisor or the Environmental, Health, and Safety department for corrective action.
- Adhere to standard operating procedures (SOPs), and standard work.
- Record accurate material usage and inventory transactions for test material.
- Prepare controls and standards for in-process testing.
- Perform functional testing of in-process and completed product.
- Use common laboratory equipment, including pH meters, balances, and spectrophotometers.
- Qualify raw materials and reagents.
- Prepare buffers, critical reagents, and kit components.
- Tabulate quantitative data processing, reporting, and analysis, including performance tracking and trending.
- Participate in troubleshooting and root cause analysis for production and equipment issues.
- Identify, segregate, and document non-conforming product.
- Participate on cross-functional teams.
- Work closely with production and R&D to facilitate product transfer, including review of documentation, pilot production, and scale up.
- Meticulously and timely complete quality system documentation.
- Work on continuous improvement projects; individually and as a part of a team.
Reports To: Manager, Production Testing Skills Required:
- Excellent attention to detail and high quality standards.
- Working knowledge of computer-based systems including Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Ability to communicate effectively, work smoothly with a team, cooperate with and support co-workers.
- Ability to work effectively as a member of a team as well as in an independent role.
- Ability to work cross-functionally with teams across operations to achieve business objectives.
- Self-motivated, execution oriented with the ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to effectively present technical data cross-functionally.
Preferred:
- Associates or Bachelors degree in Biology, Chemistry, or related STEM field preferred. Relevant years of experience may substitute.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to work in a laboratory environment and office environment
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time
- Ability to utilize a computer for extended periods of time
- Ability to lift 25 pounds regularly
