Purpose of the Job

The Capital Buyer is responsible for leading the procurement of capital equipment, services, MRO, lab supplies, and indirect materials for the Glass Reinforcement business. This role ensures timely, cost-effective, and compliant sourcing aligned with the company's strategic goals. The Capital Buyer partners with internal stakeholders, legal counsel, and suppliers to deliver high-quality solutions that support innovation, operational efficiency, and continuous improvement.

Reports to: Global Capital Sourcing Leader

Span of Control: No direct reports

Location: Granville, Ohio


Key Responsibilities

Strategic Sourcing & Procurement Execution



  • Lead sourcing activities for capital purchases, services, MRO, and indirect materials.
  • Create and manage purchase orders; ensure compliance with supplier agreements and corporate standards.
  • Negotiate contracts and manage supplier relationships to ensure quality, timely delivery, and cost targets.
  • Collaborate with legal, IP, safety, and finance teams to ensure all procurement activities are aligned with business needs and policies.
  • Partner with R&D and Capital Delivery stakeholders to implement purchasing strategies that support innovation and operational goals.
  • Interact with suppliers and internal stakeholders to ensure a flawless procurement process.
  • Provide timely follow-up for issue resolution for internal and external customers.
  • Manage administrative functions such as security agreements, vendor qualification, RFQs, SAP system vendor setup, vendor changes, insurance certificates, and purchase order management.


Continuous Improvement & Compliance



  • Drive sourcing process improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce risk.
  • Consolidate spend and develop innovative sourcing solutions.
  • Ensure compliance with the company's sourcing policies, controls, and procedures.
  • Support change management initiatives and contribute to the development of sourcing tools and templates.
  • Challenge existing procurement practices and initiate improvements to ensure stable operations.
  • Provide backup support to the Supply Chain and Sourcing teams as needed.
  • Engage and support TPM Office Pillar to increase efficiencies and eliminate waste.


Stakeholder Engagement & Training



  • Train internal stakeholders on sourcing and purchasing processes.
  • Serve as the local SAP/Business Information champion for sourcing.
  • Communicate consistently and effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Influence and inspire commitment to sourcing initiatives across all levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrate strong listening skills to understand customer requirements.
  • Engage in personal development and contribute to continuous improvement processes.


Qualifications

Minimum Requirements



  • Undergraduate degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, or related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in sourcing, purchasing, or supply chain (global manufacturing environment preferred).
  • Experience with ERP systems (SAP, MRP, Data Base) and Microsoft Office tools.


Preferred Qualifications



  • 5+ years of experience in strategic sourcing or procurement, especially in capital equipment and services.
  • Knowledge of second or third language (Spanish, French, or other)
