Description

We are hiring a 2026 Controls Engineering Summer Intern. This internship will provide you with hands on experience, which will offer you exposure to cutting-edge equipment and processes for steel fabrication and woodworking. You will utilize your Electrical Engineering coursework to help develop custom equipment while using the latest controllers and smart sensor technologies. Additionally, you will work with and support our Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) related to remote monitoring of machine downtime and status events.

What You Will Be Doing:

  • Working side by side with our senior level controls engineers to help design, program, test and debug industrial applications
  • Utilizing AutoCAD to develop electrical schematic and Rockwell Studio 5000 to develop PLC applications & operator interfaces
  • Working in a fast-paced environment collaborating with highly motived and skilled controls engineers

You will be a member of the Operations Engineering Team in the electrical controls and automation department. Graduation Requirements

  • Pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree at a nationally accredited program.
  • Actively enrolled in a degree seeking program at the time of application and throughout the duration of the internship or co-op position.
  • Preferred majors for this position: Electrical Engineering, Robotics, Mechatronic, Mechanical Engineering
  • Preferred academic standing for this position: Seniors, December 2026 - May 2027 Graduates

Work Authorization/Sponsorship

  • Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. The company will not offer sponsorships or work visas now or in the future for this role.

Preferred Skills and Competencies

  • Reliable transportation to and from the office is recommended, many of our sites do not have access to public transportation. This internship may require daily movement between manufacturing facilities during work hours.
  • GPA of 2.8 or higher is preferred
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills
  • This internship requires the student to be at a Steelcase facility each day
