Summary The Yard Spotter Lead supports day-to-day yard operations by guiding a team of yard spotters and ensuring efficient trailer movement within Chobani's distribution center. This role acts as a key point of contact between dispatch, shipping, and receiving, helping to maintain a clean, safe, and organized yard. The Yard Spotter Lead works alongside spotters, providing direction, monitoring compliance with safety and operational standards, and assisting with scheduling and workflow to ensure uninterrupted support to plant operations. Responsibilities Provide on-the-ground leadership for yard spotters to ensure timely and accurate trailer movements. Act as liaison between spotters and supervisors to communicate priorities and workflow changes. Support trailer organization and flow across the yard based on shipping and receiving schedules. Collaborate with other departments. Step in to cover trailer movements as needed, including during shift changes or high-volume periods. Monitor trailer seal integrity, complete yard checks, and red-tag trailers when appropriate. Conduct pre- and post-trip inspections, safety checks, and tandem axle adjustments as needed. Coordinate with drivers to assign dock doors and resolve trailer or load discrepancies. Operate propane forklifts and yard equipment safely and in compliance with facility protocols. Assist with training new yard spotters and ensuring compliance with safety and operational procedures. Help maintain equipment inspection records and communicate maintenance needs to supervision. Support a culture of continuous improvement, safety, and accountability. Requirements High school diploma or GED required. Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record. 2+ years of yard spotter or tractor-trailer experience, with proven trailer backing ability. Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Outlook and Excel. Familiarity with DOT, OSHA, and FSMA regulations are preferred. Effective communication skills for interacting with team members, drivers, and supervisors. Ability to interpret safety and operations manuals and complete required paperwork. Comfortable working in a physically demanding, fast-paced environment. Ability to work up to 12-hour shifts, including weekends, holidays, and in various weather conditions Able to lift, push, or pull up to 50 lbs. Reliable attendance and punctuality are essential.
