About the Office of Academic Effectiveness

Office of Academic Effectiveness (OAE) at Georgia Tech fosters a culture of improvement and sustained excellence across academic programs and support units. Through on-going engagement and assessment support services, the Office contributes to the Institute's commitment to excellence in student learning and quality assurance. This position will focus on academic assessment primarily related to undergraduate education in transformative learning. The position will implement assessment efforts for the Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP), a required report for the reaffirmation of accreditation with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC). The QEP topic is Leadership in Progress and Service: Creating Intentional and Transformative Learning Experiences. While the Academic Assessment Manager will be positioned in the Office of Academic Effectiveness, the QEP is organizationally positioned within the Office of Undergraduate Education (OUE). Georgia Institute of Technology is scheduled for reaffirmation of accreditation in 2025. The position will focus on the design and implementation for the QEP assessment process, collaborating with the leadership of the QEP. Successful implementation of these efforts will require close collaboration between OAE and the leadership in OUE.

Applicants will be considered for appointment at the Academic Professional or Senior Academic Professional rank. Candidates are expected to demonstrate a strong commitment to teaching and mentoring students.

Responsibilities

1. QEP Assessment: Manage assessment efforts for the QEP, a component of Georgia Tech's accreditation through the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) (more information may be found at https://provost.gatech.edu/quality-enhancement-plan)

a. Along with the Assistant Provost for Academic Effectiveness, meet periodically with the leadership of the QEP to ensure alignment of QEP assessment with other assessment and accreditation efforts across campus.

b. Collaborate closely with the QEP Director, faculty, and staff to plan and implement QEP assessment and SACSCOC reporting.

2. Initiate and oversee data collection for purposes of measuring the QEP Outcomes:

a. Collaborate with QEP leadership and faculty.

b. Collaborate with faculty and staff to implement assessment processes and good practices

c. Assist with organizing, outlining, and writing assessment reports and the SACSCOC report.

d. Serve on appropriate Institute committees related to the QEP and academic assessment.

3. Academic Assessment

Assist with additional projects, efforts, or requests related to academic assessment as assigned by the Associate Provost.

Required Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

Academic Professional

  • Terminal degree from a research-intensive university.
  • Significant related experience or promotion from the rank of Associate Academic Professional.
  • Quality of performance and potential for development must be recognized by peers.

Senior Academic Professional

  • Terminal degree from a research-intensive university.
  • Evidence of superior performance in the chosen field.
  • Recognition by peers (national, regional, or local).
  • Successful and measurable related experience.
  • Five (5) years or more as an Academic Professional (or equivalent rank).
