As a Senior Data Scientist in the Global Finance Data and Analytics function, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of finance analytics, driving the design and delivery of advanced capabilities across Companion Animal Group (CAG) Finance. The position will be central to building and scaling the Finance Datamart and Finance Analytics Hub, while defining the technical and analytical standards for global finance reporting. Working in close partnership with Corporate Accounts and cross-regional finance teams, this role will modernize legacy reporting into automated, self-service solutions and develop predictive models that inform commercial and strategic decision-making.

The ideal candidate brings proven experience working with large, complex data sets in enterprise data warehouse environments, with a demonstrated ability to optimize Snowflake (or equivalent) databases for performance, scalability, and end-user experience. They combine deep expertise in SQL and Tableau with the ability to mentor analysts, shape analytics initiatives, and influence senior stakeholders to adopt data-driven insights.

This position is hybrid with a minimum of 2 days on site at the Global Campus in Westbrook, ME.

What You Will Be Doing:

  • You will design, develop, and scale datasets, dashboards, KPIs, and advanced analytical models to support strategic and operational decision-making across global finance.
  • You will serve as a subject matter expert and thought partner for the Finance Datamart and Finance Analytics Hub, ensuring alignment with business priorities and analytics best practices.
  • You will develop and deploy models to anticipate business performance, evaluate commercial initiatives, and quantify drivers of growth.
  • You will define and champion data visualization standards, ensuring dashboards and reporting are consistent, executive-ready, and optimized for both operational and strategic users.
  • You will partner with global finance and commercial leaders to identify high-impact analytics opportunities, scope requirements, and translate business problems into structured analytical approaches.
  • You will investigate anomalies and diagnose root causes, recommending corrective actions to data owners and senior leadership.
  • You will establish documentation and metadata standards, ensuring transparency, reproducibility, and consistency of analytical logic across teams.
  • You will mentor and support analysts, building technical depth within the team and promoting a culture of continuous learning and collaboration.
  • You will contribute to cross-functional projects by managing deliverables, shaping timelines, and ensuring high-quality outcomes.
  • You will advocate for adoption of modern data tools, governance practices, and analytical methods across the function.

What You Need To Succeed:

  • 10+ years of professional experience in data science, advanced analytics, or BI roles, with a proven track record of delivering senior-level contributions.
  • Expert-level SQL for large-scale data modelling, query optimization, and performance tuning in Snowflake; demonstrated ability to structure, build and optimize very large datasets and stage data for end-user consumption.
  • Expert-level Tableau with strong design sensibility; able to define visualization standards and coach others.
  • Strong understanding of financial concepts, business metrics, and the role of analytics in supporting commercial and operational decisions.
  • Demonstrated success influencing senior stakeholders and framing complex business questions into clear analytical solutions.
  • Knowledge of data governance, data quality management, and metadata standards; experience contributing to and maintaining business glossaries.
  • Excellent communication skills; able to synthesize technical findings into clear, actionable recommendations for executive audiences.
  • Proven ability to mentor and guide analysts, fostering growth in technical and business acumen.
  • Organized, proactive, and impact-oriented, with the ability to prioritize across multiple initiatives in a fast-paced environment.
  • Solid understanding of applied statistical methods (e.g., forecasting, regression, clustering, time series).
  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree in Data Science, Statistics, or related field strongly preferred.

Additional Desirable Experience:

  • Experience integrating data across SAP, Salesforce, and other financial or commercial platforms.
  • Hands-on experience with dbt or equivalent transformation frameworks.
  • Familiarity with cloud analytics ecosystems (Snowpark, Databricks) and modern software development practices (Git, CI/CD).
  • Proficiency in Python for automation, data wrangling, and applied analytics.
