About Department 475 - NNPP Net Management

Department 475 is responsible for managing the Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program (NNPP) Network (NNPP Net) at Electric Boat. EB LAN portion consists of over 1300 computers and 2800 users at four (4) sites in two (2) states. The network is expanding to support many changes including new construction, maintenance and modernization contracts, and to meet changing security requirements.

Role Overview

D475 seeks a highly motivated individual to join its IT team. In this role, you will serve as a first level support representative to ensure all equipment is operational, and update software applications. General knowledge and experience with all aspects of hardware, software, and networking connectivity for desktops is necessary to be successful in this role. In addition, the candidate should be familiar with imaging and application deployment to end user devices (i.e. desktops, laptops, and tablets).

Key Responsibilities

    Perform root cause assessments and remediation as it relates to the desktop team for problem resolutions.
  • Provide technical support and assistance to users with issues that are related to hardware, software applications, operating systems, and network connectivity that support the end users.
  • Provide support for hardware, software and networking connectivity for computers.
  • Install and maintain PCs and associated software, and peripherals.
  • Perform installs and moves as required. Install and upgrade applications on individual workstations.
  • Track inventory hardware on a routine basis.
  • Attend training sessions to maintain and improve skillset as well as cross-train peers.
  • Support special desktop projects, which will require occasional weekend on-call support.
  • Implement government standard configurations to desktop equipment.

This role provides team members with challenging work and a means to continue gaining technical skills and broadening their experience throughout their career.

The position requires physical access to desktop devices throughout the Groton shipyard and the New London, Kings Highway and Quonset Point, RI campuses some walking and travel is required. In addition, the position requires occasional on-call and evenings.



Qualifications

Required

  • Associates degree or higher in Information Technology (IT) or a related computer field
  • 2+ years of experience maintaining computer hardware
  • 2+ years of experience configuring and administering Windows 10/11
  • Ability to obtain a Top Secret clearance

Preferred

  • Experience with PXE and deploying images
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+, Security +)
  • Active Confidential (or higher) security clearance
  • Experience administering DoD, military, or Federal Government systems
  • Experience working with DoD STIG requirements

  • Strong troubleshooting skills in a technical environment
  • General knowledge of network infrastructure and server configurations
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, including customer support calls and documenting changes
  • Effective time management, organization, and decision-making skills
  • Clear communication skills with a customer-focused approach
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Flexibility and adaptability in a fast-pasted, rapidly changing environment
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
