SUMMARY


The Safety and Risk Management Specialist is responsible for ensuring a safe work environment inspecting facilities, investigating incidents, and developing comprehensive safety programs. This role will collaborate with management and employees to promote safety awareness, provide training, and ensure compliance with safety regulations. The role also includes managing workers' compensation claims and maintaining accurate safety records.



PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Regularly inspects work areas to identify hazards, mitigate risks, and ensure safety compliance.
  • Investigates accidents, incidents, and near-misses, determining root causes and recommending corrective action.
  • Develops, implements, and delivers safety programs and trainings for employees, including new hires, on equipment use and safe practices.
  • Collaborates with management and employees to promote a culture of safety awareness and regulatory compliance.
  • Communicates inspection and investigation findings to relevant parties and prepares detailed reports for upper management.
  • Responds to workplace accidents and emergencies, ensuring appropriate procedures are followed.
  • Processes and reviews workers' compensation claims, maintaining accurate documentation and ensuring timely resolution.
  • Maintains comprehensive records of safety incidents and workers' compensation cases.
  • Serves as the primary contact for safety-related inquiries providing guidance on policies and procedures.
  • Follows company policies and practices as outlined in the Employee Handbook and/or applicable employment agreement. Follows safety guidelines and procedures in accordance to the job.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.



JOB REQUIREMENTS



  • Highschool Diploma or equivalent.
  • 3-4 years of relevant experience in safety management preferably in manufacturing.
  • Experience conducting safety training, audits, inspections, and accident investigations.
  • Strong knowledge of safety regulations, insurance policies, and legal aspects of claims.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and negotiation skills.
  • Proficiency in relevant software and tools for safety management and claims processing.
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and thoroughness.
  • Bilingual Spanish.



PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:



  • Associate Safety Professional (ASP), OSHA or equivalent certification is preferred.
  • Train-a-Trainer Forklift/Aerial platforms

  • Must be able to interact effectively and cooperatively with employees at all levels.
  • Must have the ability to complete assignments within the timeframe specified by the Manager.
  • Must be flexible regarding working hours. Must be able to work evenings and weekends, with or without advanced notice.
  • Must be able to operate in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple projects simultaneously.



PYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS



  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be frequently required to execute standard physical activities within the facility areas (i.e. stand, walk, sit, use hands/fingers).
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be occasionally required to execute non-standard physical activities within the facility areas (i.e. climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch).
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.

Paywithin this range varies by work locationand may also depend on your qualifications, job-related knowledge, skills,and experience.
