Data Engineer to assist with the design and development of data workflows to collect, clean, validate, analyze, and store data from multiple sources and formats into a standard data model. In this role, the Data engineer will be a key individual contributor comfortable with owning the development of data schemas, management and configuration of database infrastructure, creation of data pipelines and ensuring data is of high quality for use by analysts as part of a cross-functional development team closely collaborating with product owners and stakeholders. The position will require a blend of data quality, security, and performance optimization skills and experience in an AWS GovCloud environment.

Compensation & Benefits:

Estimated Starting Salary Range for Data Engineer: $130k- $150k

Pay commensurate with experience.

Data Engineer Responsibilities Include:

  • Gather requirements and feedback directly from users and stakeholders to solution design
  • Develop database schemas and stored procedures
  • Develop ETL pipelines for transforming multiple data source formats into a common data format
  • Develop data QA/QC functions
  • Integrate external data sources into data workflows
  • Write and maintain automated tests to ensure system stability and usability
  • Support the CI/CD pipeline and follow DevSecOps best practices for secure and efficient deployments
  • Participate in Agile processes, including sprint planning, demos, and retrospectives
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Data Engineer Experience, Education, Skills, Abilities requested:

  • 5+ years of experience in data engineering
  • Experience in Relational and NoSQL database development (AWS RDS SQL Server, AWS RedShift, AWS DynamoDB, Postgres)
  • Experience in database programming (T-SQL, PL/SQL)
  • Experience developing ETL data pipelines and automated workflows (AWS Step Functions, AWS Glue, Talend) or equivalent technologies
  • Familiarity with data validation, data quality, and data management best practices
  • Experience in developing QA/QC, transformation, enriching, cleaning, and fusion functions
  • Experience mapping multiple sources of truth to data standards (OMOP)
  • Experience with AWS GovCloud and the following services (Step Functions, Lambda, EC2, S3, DynamoDB, SQS, SNS, Eventbridge, API Gateway, Textract, Comprehend, Glue) or equivalent technologies
  • Understanding of AWS Security Best Practices
  • Experience working within Agile teams and DevSecOps environments
  • Strong communication skills and comfort interfacing directly with customers and end users
  • Must pass the pre-employment qualifications of Cherokee Federal.
