Position Summary


The Financial Accounting Manager is responsible for leading the day-to-day operations of the accounting department, ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance with GAAP, and the implementation of effective internal controls. This role manages a team of at least eight accounting professionals, including Staff Accountants and Accounts Receivable Clerks with varying levels of experience. The Accounting Manager will provide mentorship, performance management, and professional development opportunities to the team while collaborating cross-functionally to support business objectives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of at least eight accounting professionals, including junior and senior-level accountants and Accounts Receivable Clerks.
  • Oversee the accurate and timely recording of financial transactions in accordance with GAAP.
  • Maintain and enhance internal controls over accounting processes and ensure timely reconciliation of accounts.
  • Direct the inventory accounting process, including coordination of annual physical inventory.
  • Supervise customer invoicing and collaborate with program managers and project controllers to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
  • Coordinate and support financial and tax audits.
  • Review and approve accounts, and/or journal entries.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to support reporting and analysis needs.
  • Lead or participate in special projects and process improvement initiatives.
  • Foster a collaborative and inclusive team environment that supports continuous learning and professional growth.


Position Requirements


Education and Experience



  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting required; CPA or MBA preferred.
  • Minimum of 8 years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 4 years in a recent management or supervisory role.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting standards.


Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities




  • Proven leadership and team development skills, with experience managing teams of varying skill levels.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
  • Experience with accounting systems such as NetSuite or Microsoft Dynamics SL preferred.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

  • Willingness to travel up to 5-10%
