The Minnesota Council on Economic Education (MCEE) is an entrepreneurial non-profit organization (501c3) housed in the Department of Applied Economics (APEC) at the
University of Minnesota, Twin Cities. The mission of MCEE is to equip Minnesotans with the economic and personal finance knowledge and skills to make informed decisions and thrive in our complex world. MCEE accomplishes its mission by developing and delivering professional development courses and workshops for K-12 teachers, providing direct programs to K-12 students, and working with community agencies in personal finance education for adults in diverse populations. Job Responsibilities
Research Support (70%)

  • Provide research support for ongoing programming.
  • Provide research support for special projects.
  • Provide research support to MCEE's legislative and advocacy efforts.

Program Administrative Support (30%)

  • Provide support for program reports and preparation of program materials as needed.
  • Support MCEE staff with event preparation and management.
  • Attend and help staff events if available.

Additional Items:

  • Other projects as assigned.
  • A few evenings, Saturdays, and/or early hours may be requested for special events.
Qualifications

Required

  • High school student or above. The ideal candidate is a quick learner who is able to work independently and efficiently. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail and accuracy are necessary. Strong communication skills, including the ability to ask clarifying questions. Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Google Apps.

Preferred

  • Experience with database applications. Experience with research. Background in economics and personal finance. Restrictions: Casual appointments are restricted to 14 hours per week or less. Starting Date: September 8, 2025, and continuing into Summer 2026. Work Hours: MCEE staff work virtually about 60-75% of the time. Office hours are 9:00 a.m. to 5:00/5:30 p.m. Need 4 to 12 hours per week during the academic year, with the possibility of significant additional part-time in the summer. We will work with the student's schedule.
Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $17.00 per hour
