A Brief Overview

Coordination of centralized intake responsibilities including processing referrals, precertification for psychiatric admission, insurance verification and documentation, answer phone calls as indicated, coordination of service needs to designated individuals including referral placements, tele tracking data entries, clerical responsibilities as delegated

What You Will Do

  • Direct observation:
    * Greets caller by name and introduces self to establish professional rapport.
    * Maintains professsional demeanor and speaks in a well modulated professional voice.
    * Adheres to dress code.
    * Maintains confidentiality consistent with HIPAA.
    * Advocates for the patient and identifies appropriate placement options for inpatient placement.
  • Competency:
    * Demonstrates understanding of referrral process and placement of patients at appropriate inpatient site based on criteria and presentation.
    * Demonstrates understanding of completed process for insurance verification and directs to appropriate channels of communication for dissemination of this information.
  • Expectations:
    * Coordinates referral process and data entry, appropriately identifies placement options and demonstrates effective communication related to same.
    * Relays/Communicates days awarded for approved inpatient stay.
    * Accurate documentation via email and teletracking system.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Complies with all policies and standards.

  • Must abide by all requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) for our patients. Annual training, the UH Code of Conduct and UH policies and procedures are in place to address appropriate use of PHI in the workplace.
