Working alongside experienced medical equipment planners, engineers, and healthcare IT specialists, you'll ensure hospitals, clinics, and labs have the right technology in the right place to deliver exceptional patient care. From high-tech imaging suites to operating rooms, you'll see how equipment and technology integrate seamlessly into building design-improving workflows, enhancing safety, and supporting caregivers. This entry-level role offers hands-on experience, mentorship, and exposure to specialized planning tools, client collaboration, and multidisciplinary design projects-equipping you with the skills and insight to grow your career in healthcare planning and design

Principal Responsibilities

  • Interface with users to assess equipment needs and placement via phone, email, virtual, or in-person meetings

  • Engage with clients to gather requirements, communicate technical information, and maintain professional relationships

  • Support project planning, scheduling, and execution to meet deadlines and objectives

  • Prepare standard deliverables, including cost estimates, MEQ books, memos, narratives, and letters with accurate formatting and grammar

  • Conduct medical equipment assessments or inventories for potential reuse as part of a team

  • Update MEQ databases from meeting notes within set deadlines

  • Document design decisions, relay client instructions, and track project progress

  • Analyze low- to medium-complexity medical equipment tasks and propose solutions

  • Collaborate with senior planners and consultants on practical, efficient solutions

  • Participate in quality control to ensure compliance with IMEG, industry, and client standards

  • Stay current on medical equipment trends, technologies, and best practices; contribute to R&D

  • Work with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated project solutions

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor Degree in Clinical Engineering, Bio-Medical Engineering, Interior Design, Architecture, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Plumbing Engineering, or equivalent required

  • Prior internship experience in the building design consulting or medical equipment consulting industry

  • Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and concepts involved in the production of technical plans and specifications

  • Strong technical and analytical skills including knowledge of principles relating to Medical Equipment

  • Knowledge of industry standard medical equipment software and tools including 4Tower, Attainia, and Bluebeam

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment

  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills

  • Eagerness to learn and adapt to new challenges

  • Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups

  • Proficient with MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook

  • Ability to travel up to 10% with overnight stays

  • Plan and integrate medical equipment for facilities ranging from community clinics to large academic medical centers

  • Use industry-leading tools, databases, and 3D modeling to plan equipment layouts and coordinate utility requirements early in design

  • Collaborate with architects, engineers, and clinicians to align equipment needs with workflows and patient experience

  • Gain exposure to advanced healthcare technology trends, such as robotics, telehealth, and ultra-HD surgical imaging

  • Work with IMEG's Healthcare Information Technology team to ensure medical equipment integrates seamlessly with connected care systems

Salary Range $75,000 - $78,000. Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. Individual pay will be based on several factors including experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant. Other rewards may include annual bonuses and stock ownership options.
