Job Description

VPT, Inc., a global leader in providing power conversion solutions for use in avionics, military, space and industrial applications, has an immediate opening for a Mechanical / Process Engineer. This is a full-time position located in our Blacksburg, VA headquarters. Reporting to the Mechanical Engineering Manager, the Mechanical / Process Engineer will be a key member within our Quality Department.

Responsibilities will include:



  • Design hardware, fixtures, and processes for new products
  • Analyze and test designs for robustness against thermal and dynamic environments
  • Improve processes and materials for existing products to increase yield and throughput
  • Create/edit procedures, drawings, and other production documentation
  • Establish relationships with suppliers to ensure quality and timely deliveries
  • Travel (international & domestic) to production facilities to evaluate processes and materials


Because of the nature of the position, a US Person is required.



Salary will be discussed with the candidate and is dependent upon knowledge and experience.

Requirements

Qualifications:


Required:



  • Bachelor's degree in:

    • Mechanical Engineering
    • Materials Engineering
    • Industrial Engineering




Preferred:



  • Background in electronic assembly process
  • 3D modeling and drafting (SolidWorks preferred)
  • Finite element analysis
  • Machining/prototyping experience (CNC, milling maching, waterjet, 3D printing, etc.)
  • Environmental testing experience (thermal, shock, vibration, etc.)
