Visual Studios is a center of excellence for creative asset development, lettering, character stylings, and archival collections. The leaders and talent within the studio shape "what makes it Hallmark" with industry leading craft and conceptual expertise to deliver differentiation for the Hallmark Brand in the marketplace.

What this role entails and how you'll contribute

The Visual Studio Director provides strong creative vision, high-level direction and sets aesthetic high-bar for asset development within the Visual Studios.

Expectations for this role include:



  • Strategically leads and influences the studio to develop assets with industry leading craft and conceptual expertise to deliver differentiated points of view with unique Hallmark positioning.
  • Works closely with partner teams to identify and interpret opportunities to drive distinctive visual direction and character exploration that align with business priorities.
  • Directs and inspires a team of studio art directors to create and curate compelling visual content and trend-right creative direction that maximizes the application of assets for program planning and commercialization of product.
  • Develops talent in the studio to ensure creative versatility and range that evolves with changing business needs.



BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

The following is required to be considered for this role:



  • Bachelor's degree or at least 4 years of professional work experience in design, illustration or lettering
  • At least 8 years of Hallmark product development experience
  • At least 5 years of people or project leadership experience



PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Your resume/application will stand out if you have:



  • BFA or BA in Design or Graphic Design
  • Previous experience in collaborating across teams within Hallmark and/or with external vendors/partners
  • Strong strategic thinking skills to translate relevant trends and creative assets into consumer-centric product strategies and solutions.
  • Strong communication skills - able to effectively communicate with key partners and present work
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships and collaborative partnerships
  • Ability to handle high volume of work that is varied in complexity
  • Strong decision making and organizational skills, with the ability to quickly process information and manage moving pats and pieces to drive work forward
  • Proven strong leadership and decision-making skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills



ADDITIONAL DETAILS This position is located out of our headquarters office in Kansas City, MO. Candidate should be local with the ability to be in-person on a regular basis (1-3 time per week).
