HDR is looking for a Bridge Design Engineer in Training (EIT) to join our Denver or Colorado Springs, CO team. The Bridge Design EIT will be expected to perform structural design on bridges and walls and occasional field work such as bridge inspection and construction observation. In the role of Bridge Design EIT, we'll count on you to:
- Participate in bridge designs, develop design plans, perform structural load calculations and quantity takeoffs, review shop drawings and field submittals.
- Work in a team environment as well as independently while challenging yourself to acquire knowledge and experience in engineering.
- Support the bridge design group and other disciplines by applying structural engineering and detailing techniques in the development of structural designs.
- Perform other duties such as bridge inspection and construction observation as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
- Engineer in Training (EIT) certificate.
- Candidates without their EIT will be placed into a Design Coordinator job code and will be expected to obtain their EIT for career progression.
- MS in Civil/Structural Engineering.
- Must be willing to work with other disciplines (bridge inspection, roadway design, hydraulic analysis, stream restoration, planning, construction services, environmental) within the office.
- This position requires proficiency in use of typical office software such as Microsoft Office and Outlook.
- Experience in CAD platforms such as Microstation, Autocad, Inroads, and Civil 3D considered a plus.
- Experience in structural analysis and design software such as SAP2000, CSiBridge, LARSA, AASHTOWare BrR, LEAP Bridge or similar also considered a plus.
- Familiarity with AASHTO Bridge Design Specifications and other DOT design guidelines considered a plus.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Must have good communication skills and be willing to work in a multi-disciplinary team environment on a wide range of projects.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree
- Familiarity with Bluebeam Revu and knowledge of engineering software packages such as: LEAP Bridge Enterprise, FB-MultiPier, LPile, AASHTOWare BrR, midas Civil, CSiBridge, RM Bridge, spColumn, STLBridgeLRFD, or STLBridge.
- Bently OpenBridge Modeler and/or Autodesk Infraworks and Civil3d
- Strong understanding and hands-on use of computers for structural layout and design
- Good communication skills and willing to work in a team environment
- An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
