Role:

The AMD Law Department is seeking a motivated attorney to support the Graphics & Engineering (G&E) business unit. This role will focus on providing legal counsel to GPU hardware, software, and AI development teams, as well as AMD's Chief Software Office and open-source software initiatives. The attorney will handle technology and IP transactions, provide risk management guidance, and partner with engineering leaders to support AMD's business and technical objectives.

  • Independent, proactive, and able to manage multiple priorities.
  • Confident in making sound judgments and escalating when appropriate.
  • Curious, adaptable, and eager to engage with emerging technologies.

Responsibilities:

  • Draft, review, and negotiate inbound/outbound software licenses, technology, and IP agreements.
  • Counsel engineering clients on contract terms, compliance, AI solutions, and dispute resolution.
  • Advise on open-source software use, including compliance with policies and code scanning.
  • Provide guidance on product development and legal risk management.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to coordinate deal negotiations.
  • Develop and deliver internal training on legal, software, and compliance matters.

Preferred Experience:

  • Practicing attorney experience; combination of law firm and in-house strongly preferred.
  • Expertise in intellectual property law, technology licensing, open-source counseling, and AI-related legal matters.
  • Familiarity with compliance frameworks and dispute resolution.
  • Experience within the computing, semiconductor, or related technology industries a plus.

Academic Credentials:

  • JD degree and admission to practice law in a U.S. state.
