POSITION SPECIFICS Join the Schreyer Honors College as an Admissions Counselor to serve as a strategic representative of the College and Penn State by leading recruitment efforts, supporting selection processes, coordinating events, and guiding new student transitions. The Admissions Counselor will utilize interpersonal, counseling, critical thinking, and event planning skills to assist prospective scholars and their families with their discovery of and selection of the Schreyer Honors College. This is an exciting interactive and relationship-driven role that provides opportunities to meet high-achieving students and showcase how they can receive an outstanding honors education in our college and at a top-tier public research university. The Admissions Counselor will also facilitate the transition of new scholars by leading orientation programs, serving as a primary contact for students and families, and participating in college events and committees. After training, the Admissions Counselor will also work with various software including Slate, Microsoft Office 365, and FileMaker. Qualifications:
Experience working in university admissions or a related higher education setting is preferred. MINIMUM EDUCATION, WORK EXPERIENCE & REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS Bachelor's Degree 3+ years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience accepted Required Certifications: NoneApplication Information: Applicants must submit a resume and cover letter, describing how their skills and experience align with the responsibilities and qualifications of this position. This position will report to the Director of Admissions. The Schreyer Honors College is supportive of flexible work arrangements when aligned with the ability to meet the needs of the unit and the essential duties of the position. Questions related to flexible work should be directed to the hiring manager during the interview process. Please note that this is not a fully remote position. In accordance with the Schreyer Honors College guidelines, this position typically requires a minimum of four days per week of on-site work at the designated work location. BACKGROUND CHECKS/CLEARANCES This position requires the following clearances in addition to applicable background checks: PA State Police Criminal Background Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance Form, Federal (FBI) Fingerprint Criminal Background Check, and the National Sex Offender Registry Clearance (NSOR).Additional clearances may be necessary if you resided outside of Pennsylvania in the past five years. This position requires that you operate a motor vehicle as a part of your job duties. A valid driver's license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will be required in addition to standard background checks.
