Position Overview
The Patient Services Representative II (PSR II) represents the face of the company to patients during both routine visits and life-impacting health decisions. This role involves drawing quality blood samples, preparing specimens for lab testing, and creating an atmosphere of trust and professionalism. PSR II Floaters travel between multiple sites as coverage needs arise and must arrive on time at whichever site they are assigned for the day. Successful applicants may be assigned to a doctor's office, a patient service center, or other locations as business needs dictate.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform daily activities accurately and on time under the direction of the area supervisor
- Maintain a safe and professional environment
- Confidently conduct forensic and clinical specimen collection and processing
- Verify patient demographic information, initials, and signatures post-venipuncture to confirm correct tube labeling
- Maintain required records and documentation
- Readily explain procedures to patients while ensuring confidentiality and accuracy
- Demonstrate organizational commitment and promote a positive image to patients, clients, employees, and the public
Job Requirements
- Ability to deliver quality, error-free work in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Excellent phlebotomy skills, including pediatric and geriatric patients
- Flexible availability, including weekends, holidays, on-call, and overtime
- Commitment to company policies including dress code, employee health and safety, and guiding principles
- Strong decision-making skills based on established procedures and good judgment
- Reliable transportation, valid driver's license, and clean driving record required
- Ability to travel daily to multiple sites, with mileage reimbursement provided
- Capable of handling multiple priorities in a high-volume setting
- Demonstrated customer focus, transparency in communication, adaptability to change, and knowledge of business operations
- Training locations may vary based on trainer availability
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Medical training (medical assistant or paramedic) preferred
- Phlebotomy certification preferred (required in California, Nevada, and Washington)
Work Experience
- Three years of phlebotomy experience required, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections
- Two or more years in a Patient Service Center environment preferred
- Customer service experience in a retail or service environment preferred
- Keyboard/data entry experience required

- Floaters are expected to arrive on time at any assigned site for coverage
- Must maintain a clean driving record
- Eligible to submit mileage for expense reimbursement
- Must be available to work all scheduled shifts, be on time, and remain for full shift
- Excessive absenteeism/tardiness will result in termination
