Application Window Open date: September 12, 2025 Next review date: Saturday, Sep 27, 2025 at 11:59pm (Pacific Time) Final date: Friday, Mar 12, 2027 at 11:59pm (Pacific Time) Position description Madhani Lab - Junior Specialist A Junior Specialist position is currently available for immediate employment in the Madhani laboratory (madhanilab.ucsf.edu) at the University of California, San Francisco in the Genentech Hall Building (at the Mission Bay campus) to study pathogenesis by Cryptococcus neoformans. C. neoformans is a budding yeast, which is responsible for hundreds of thousands of infections worldwide in highly immunocompromised patients, including organ transplant patients and individuals infected with HIV. Responsibilities include molecular cloning, C. neoformans strain construction, immunoblotting, DNA/RNA purification, qRT-PCR, mammalian cell culture, and mouse handling. Secondary duties include: laboratory organization, ordering, and ensuring safety compliance. The employee will work very closely with and receive training from senior scientists in the laboratory, including staff scientists, postdoctoral fellows, and graduate students.
