Position description

In Residence Faculty Position | UCSF Department of

Neurology/Gladstone Institute of Neurological Disease

We invite applications for a faculty position at the rank of Associate or Senior Investigator at the Gladstone Institute of Neurological Disease (GIND). Focused on leading-edge science and biomedical research, the Gladstone Institutes is an independent, not-for-profit research organization. It is affiliated with the University of California San Francisco (UCSF) and located in an award-winning building at UCSF's Mission Bay Campus. The successful candidate will have a joint faculty appointment as an Associate or Full Professor in the In Residence faculty series in the Department of Neurology or another suitable department, and in relevant graduate training programs.

Our investigators direct world-class research programs that focus on diverse topics, ranging from fundamental biological questions to translational drug discovery, all united under the mission of science overcoming disease. The combination of a nimble private research institute situated at a renowned clinical and research university in close proximity to the Silicon Valley biotechnology hub makes for a uniquely exciting and supportive environment.

Primary criteria for appointment at the GIND will be outstanding records of innovative research, scientific productivity, mentorship, and commitment to disease-focused neuroscience. Of particular interest are applicants with proven ability to unravel mechanisms of major brain disorders such as Alzheimer's disease and related conditions. Other selection criteria include genuine interest in translational neurobiology and a strong record of attracting independent grant support. To qualify for a faculty appointment at UCSF, applicants must possess a medical or doctoral degree, appropriate postgraduate or postdoctoral training, and at least four years of teaching/mentoring experience (during residency, fellowship, and/or in the lab) by the time the appointment becomes effective.

Candidates must apply online at https://aprecruit.ucsf.edu/JPF05751, with a cover letter, CV, Statement of Research, and the names, titles, and e-mail addresses of three references whom we may contact directly. Applicants' materials must list current and/or pending qualifications upon submission. Applications received outside of the online process cannot be considered, but informal inquiries can be directed to Dr. Lennart Mucke at lennart.mucke@gladstone.ucsf.edu.

The recruitment effort will continue until the position is filled. The Gladstone Institutes and UCSF seek candidates whose experience, teaching, research, and community service has prepared them to contribute to our commitments to diversity and excellence.

See the Gladstone Institute's website for salary information. Salary range: $250,000 - $350,000 per year
