Job Description
Are you an RN who thrives on preparation, coordination, and making things happen before the big moment? As a Pre-Anesthesia Assessment Nurse, you'll be the key player in making sure our surgical patients are 100% ready to go - physically, emotionally, and medically. Working alongside our expert anesthesia providers, you'll help plan and organize all aspects of care for scheduled surgical patients. Thanks to our streamlined Pre-Anesthesia Testing (PAT) protocols, you'll gather all the necessary clinical information in a way that's smooth for patients, efficient for physicians, and keeps everything flowing in the OR. Your Role in a Nutshell:You're not just a nurse-you're a master of coordination! You'll navigate the complex world of multidisciplinary care, collaborating with University Health providers and external specialists. You'll request, track down, and review outside records like a detective, ensuring every piece of information is accounted for. With your expert assessment skills (think: detailed chart reviews, labs, tests, and patient interviews), you'll be ready to take action when something needs attention-especially when the stakes are high. You'll work side-by-side with Internal Medicine, Cardiology, and Pulmonology to optimize each patient's condition for safe anesthesia and a successful surgical outcome. You're a Patient's Pre-Op Hero:From education to reassurance, you'll guide patients through what to expect before, during, and after surgery. You'll deliver clear, customized instructions about meds, meals, infection prevention, and more-making sure patients feel confident, informed, and ready. The result? Fewer cancellations. Fewer delays. Happier patients. A more efficient OR. And a smoother day for everyone. Minimum Requirements:
You'll be part of a team that values preparation, communication, and compassion. Your work ensures patient safety and improves surgical outcomes-all before the first incision is made. If you're a detail-oriented RN who loves planning ahead and helping people feel safe, informed, and cared for... this role is your calling. Ready to be the calm, confident voice patients need before surgery? Apply today and help make every surgical journey a success. |
