About the Job

Duties/Responsibilities:
This position is part-time at 16 hours a week (.40 FTE). This position will provide clinical research coordination to faculty in the Movement Disorders Laboratory in the Department of Neurology. Under supervision and training, the research professional's duties include, but not limited to:

Subject Participation in Research Protocol (60%)
* Protect the rights of research subjects through the successful execution of informed consent and compliance with HIPAA requirements
* Facilitate the completion of participant visits by scheduling appointments with participants and research staff following the protocol, providing necessary instructions, materials and reminders to participants, booking rooms, and other tasks as needed.
* Facilitate follow up with study participants via data collection from medical records, in person interviews, and by telephone or videoconferencing.
* Conscientiously conduct research study activities to protect and promote participant safety, communicating clearly and promptly about any potential concerns.
* Perform study specific data collection procedures.
* Maintain study databases to track the status of participants.
* Review data both on collection forms and in study databases for completeness and accuracy.
* Complete and ensure appropriate documentation for any adverse-event (AE), serious adverse event (SAE) and protocol deviation, complying with reporting regulations and timelines, and notifying appropriate individuals/entities per research requirements.

Protocol/ Study Management (30%)
* Duties are determined by protocol-specific requirements and may include any research activity from protocol development through study closeout. The incumbent may assume responsibility for continuity of research subject care and follow the subject from beginning to completion of the study.
* Follow Good Clinical Practice (GCP) guidelines in the conduct, performance and documentation of clinical research activities.
* Facilitate the successful implementation of the IRB approved protocol; read and interpret clinical protocols, assess study related needs, and provide input to facilitate implementation under the supervision of department staff.
* Demonstrate effective and efficient communication with study sponsors, monitors, department and study team staff.
* Complete and maintain all study-related documents and logs including essential, source, and regulatory documents.
* Organize and submit data into databases, spreadsheets and reporting mechanisms, and ensure accuracy of data entry.
* Monitor study supplies and equipment, proactively ordering new as well as disposing of expired/unused items when needed, and maintaining organization of items.
* Handle basic financial and administrative transactions (ex: supply purchasing and parking passes)

Education and Administration (10%)
* Communicate with team members to foster quality research within the context of exceptional clinical care.
* Support quality improvement initiatives.
* Attend study meetings, as well as research and professional development trainings as appropriate.
* Provide support and training to study team members as needed to support successful implementation of study procedures.
* Prepare for, schedule, and participate in pre-site selection visits, site initiation visits, monitoring visits, program audits, etc. by coordinating the visits and schedules, and ensuring requested information is provided.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:
*BA/BS with at least 2 years of experience or a combination of education and work experience to equal 6 years, minimum of one (1) year experience on a clinical research team.
* A demonstrated ability to initiate, process, and track multiple projects simultaneously, a working knowledge of regulations governing research activities (such as GCPs, FDA regulations and ICH guidelines)

Preferred Qualifications:
* Excellent attention to detail.
* Experience in public outreach, web design, and/or social media.
* Experience in the preparation of IRB applications.
* Working knowledge of regulations governing research activities (such as GCPs, FDA regulations and ICH guidelines).
* Experience with Office Suite, Google Apps, and web-based systems for tracking activities, calendaring, and retrieving/updating information.
* Possess excellent communication skills; verbal and written.
* Demonstrated ability to provide excellent customer service to internal and external clients.
* Professional experience on a clinical research project team.
* Experience in an academic health center.
* Experience with exercise equipment, including but not limited to Medtronic Zephyr and/or ActivPAL.
* Knowledge of medical terminology.
* Certification as a clinical research professional with SoCRA or ACRP or willingness to obtain certification at time of eligibility.
* Experience with REDCap, OnCore, Asana, and/or Florence

About the Department

About the Department:
The Department of Neurology at the UMN is home to 58 faculty members (48 MD's, 10 PhDs) and is organized in nine Divisions (General Neurology, Movement Disorders, Neuromuscular, Epilepsy, Stroke, Neurocritical Care, Memory, Multiple Sclerosis and Pediatric Neurology) along with expertise in Sleep Medicine and Neuro-oncology. The Department's educational and training programs include an adult neurology residency with 24 residents and seven different fellowship programs (Vascular Neurology, Endovascular Surgical Neuroradiology, Critical Care Neurology, Epilepsy, Neuromuscular Medicine, Clinical Neurophysiology and Movement Disorders). The Department is home to seven NIH-funded researchers whose funding includes an NINDS P50 Udall Center of Excellence for
Parkinson's Disease Research and an NINDS StrokeNet Regional Coordinating Center.

Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $24.13/hr -$30/hr; depending on education/qualifications/experience.
