About the Role:


We are currently seeking a highly experienced and knowledgeable Parts Advisor with a background in Caterpillar heavy equipment to join our team. With over 15 years of technician experience, you'll play a critical role in supporting both our service department and valued customers by offering in-depth technical support and accurate parts identification. Your expertise with SIS Web and DBS systems will be key to driving efficiency, accuracy, and customer satisfaction.



Key Responsibilities:



  • Provide expert-level support in identifying, sourcing, and ordering genuine Caterpillar parts using SIS Web and DBS systems.
  • Serve as a technical resource for internal teams and customers, offering solutions to complex mechanical issues and part compatibility questions.
  • Assist customers-including contractors, fleet managers, and field technicians-via phone, email, and in person with detailed, application-specific parts needs.
  • Collaborate closely with service technicians to align parts availability with repair schedules, minimizing equipment downtime.
  • Interpret technical drawings, schematics, and service manuals to ensure proper parts selection and installation support.
  • Handle special orders, warranty claims, returns, and backorders in accordance with Caterpillar and dealer policies.
  • Mentor junior staff by sharing technical knowledge, best practices, and SIS/DBS system usage.
  • Help maintain optimal inventory levels and coordinate restocking of high-demand items.

Qualifications:


Required:


  • 12+ years of hands-on experience as a heavy equipment technician, with a focus on Caterpillar machinery (e.g., dozers, excavators, loaders, graders, etc.).
  • Strong working knowledge of SIS Web (Service Information System) and DBS (Dealer Business System).
  • In-depth understanding of hydraulic, powertrain, and electrical systems on Caterpillar machines.
  • Ability to read and interpret parts schematics, service bulletins, and technical documentation.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a focus on customer service and problem-solving.
  • Familiarity with dealership operations, inventory management, and vendor coordination.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Caterpillar or OEM technical certifications are a strong asset.


Preferred:



  • 12+ years of hands-on experience as a heavy equipment technician, with a focus on Caterpillar machinery (e.g., dozers, excavators, loaders, graders, etc.).
  • Prior experience as a parts advisor, technical support, or service writer for CAT service support or a direct industry. (i.e. construction equipment dealer)
  • In-depth understanding of hydraulic, powertrain, and electrical systems on Caterpillar machines.
  • Ability to read and interpret parts schematics, service bulletins, and technical documentation.
  • Familiarity with dealership operations, inventory management, and vendor coordination.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Caterpillar or OEM technical certifications are a strong asset.
