Overview
Supervisory and advanced technical level maintenance or professional level scientific work for the Department of Fish & Wildlife involving oversight of equipment maintenance and fish rearing activities at the Grand Isle facility. Duties include training, scheduling and assignment of personnel for work on mechanical equipment or the fish culture side of facility operations. Supervision is exercised over professional staff assigned to maintenance and culture activity. Work is performed under the supervision of the Fish Culture Specialist VI. This position, Fish Culture Specialist IV (Job Requisition #53406), is open to all State employees and external applicants. Environmental Factors
Duties are performed primarily at a fish culture station, both indoors and outdoors in all seasons, but with some travel for stocking or other fish transport purposes. A valid Vermont driver's license is required. An incumbent must be on call at all times for emergencies, employee absences, or other reasons. Significant physical labor is involved in the performance of fish culture and related duties under varying climatic conditions. A person in this position may be required to live in Department provided housing. Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in fish culture or a natural resources field AND two (2) years or more experience in the propagation and culture of food or game fish AND one (1) year or more of supervisory experience. OR Four (4) years or more experience in the propagation and culture of food or game fish AND one (1) year or more of supervisory experience. OR One (1) year as a Fish Culture Specialist III for the State of Vermont. Special Requirements
A person in this position may be required to live in Department provided housing. Must obtain a pesticide applicators license and CPR certification within six month of hire. Total Compensation
