Vascular Technologist Responsibilities & Duties



  • Perform non-invasive vascular tests including ultrasound and Doppler studies
  • Proficient in venous reflux studies, carotid duplex, peripheral arterial studies, PVR ( segmental pressures ) exams, dialysis fistula scans, visceral studies.
  • Evaluate images and data to identify abnormalities and assist in diagnosis
  • Collaborate with physicians to interpret test results and develop treatment plans
  • Maintain and calibrate imaging equipment to ensure optimal performance
  • Prepare detailed reports summarizing findings for medical staff review
  • Educate patients about procedures and answer their questions to alleviate concerns
  • Keep accurate records of performed procedures and patient data
  • Ensure patient safety and comfort during examinations
  • Assist in surgical procedures such as Varithena, RFA and stab phlebectomy as needed
  • Stay updated with the latest techniques and technologies in vascular imaging


Vascular Technologist Qualifications & Skills



  • Certification from a recognized accrediting body such as ARDMS or CCI
  • Strong knowledge of vascular anatomy and pathology
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency with modern diagnostic equipment and software
  • Attention to detail and strong analytical skills
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a healthcare team
  • Completion of an accredited vascular technology program
  • Current licensure or certification as a Vascular Technologist
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification ( preferred )
  • Proficiency in using ultrasound and other diagnostic imaging equipment
  • Strong understanding of vascular diseases and diagnostic criteria
  • Ability to follow detailed protocols and procedures
  • Experience in a clinical healthcare setting is preferred
  • Excellent hand-eye coordination and technical skills
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities
